“Farewell to oslo”
Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

Our group chose this restaurant to have our farewell dinner. Lovely eclectic collection to admire and comment on, guess what they are etc, hanging from ceiling and scattered around. Lovely meal, no hassle when one steak was returned. New meal provided. Service was efficient, without them whipping plates out from underneath you.
Great place to eat and chat. Within easy strolling distance of our hotel on a pleasant summer's evening.

“A good Norwegian dining experience”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

We chose to visit Cafe Christiania as it was close to our hotel and offered a unique Norwegian dining experience - we were not disappointed. The cafe has a wonderful charm and a nice environment to have a lunch or dinner.

Our food choices were the Kyllignbryst and the Kveite (Chicken Breast and Halibut) - the halibut was perfectly prepared, while I found the chicken to be flavorful yet overwhelmed by the accompanying risotto in oil. Probably would not order that again.

I can't wait to return to try other menu items - enjoy!

“Great Food in a Nostalgic Atmosphere”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Just across the street from the wonderful Grand Hotel, this restaurant serves up delicious food and a wonderful selection of Norwegian beers. Dining areas consist of various rooms decorated with artifacts tracing Norwegian history.

We arrived fairly late, around 9PM after a long day of traveling from Los Angeles. We picked the restaurant based on reviews in guide books and on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. Great service, good food and good drink. Perfect! Excellent choice for a downtown restaurant.

You also get a discount with the Oslo Pass/Card.

“High tea”
Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

I was the only diner inside. The patio tables were full.
Wanted to experience afternoon tea and sandwiches. Waitress brought tea and treats and ignored me for the next half hour. Sandwich bread was stale, but the dessert cakes and chocolates were fine. Had to stand up to be seen for refill of hot water for my tea.
Poor experience and worse service.

“Worth visiting”
Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

We visited Cafe Christiana because of the discount offered by the Oslo card (15%), and because it had favorable Trip Advisor reviews. At 6:30 pm on Saturday, we had the big room pretty much to ourselves.

The restaurant has all sorts of old candy and knickknacks. We were surprised when our server told us the restaurant had only been there since 2005! He did invite us to wander around and look at the displays while we waited, which is probably not possible when it is busier.

The food was delicious. I had the halibut with kohlrabi, potatoes and asparagus (255 NOK) and my husband had chicken.

It was a neat experience and worth visiting at least once.
