Description: Lofoten is an elegant, yet cosy and relaxed seafood restaurant on the edge of Aker Brygge with an exquisite maritime menu, good beverages and excellent service. Lofoten pride themselves in serving the best fish and seafood the sea has to offer. The restaurant's philosophy is to serve rustic food that not only looks good, but also tempts the palate and satisfies one's hunger. The menu changes 7-8 times a year and reflects each season's specialities. January-March: Steamed cod with liver and roe, flown in from Lofoten! April-September: Summer menu, 200 seats outside with a great view of the Oslo Fjord. October-December: The Norwegian speciality lutefisk (cod treated with lye).

I went there since it had decent reviews as a seafood restaurant in Oslo. However, the service was very poor. The bread was dry and stale. And the waitor had mistaken the order, but insisted he was right.

Second best restaurant in Oslo, behind Ruffinos Italian, but the two can't compare anyway. My first fish dish the waiter recommended was to die for! They baked the fish for a little bit, then grilled it, and it was moist, tender and oh so good! The gazpacho was also amazing! A really fantastic seafood restaurant. Service was very good, and it was on the high side for price, but then again it's Oslo. It's located along the wharf with a ton of restaurants. But this is the one to go to! I also ate at Louise's, and the fish was overcooked and the service terrible. The ambiance, though, was very nice. So don't get swayed in there and stick with Lofotens! Better to call for reservations, as they do pack up.

This restaurant is the tops. Great and friendly service. Prices reasonable for Oslo. Medium length but excellent wine list. Basil fish soup with large pieces of fish and baby shrimp. Ling with gnocchi and halibut were both fantastic. Great view of the harbor. Can't say enough about this outstanding restaurant.

We walked in without a booking, and room was found for us. The initial service was slow-it took a long time to be offered a drink. After ordering, our first course was also slow, for which our waiter apologised. It was worth the wait however- the best fish soup we've had in Norway, a lovely basil flavoured broth poured over salmon, halibut, scallop and prawns. A very generous and satisfying serve. The bread that accompanied it was first class, as were the two dipping olive oils, one lemon infused. For mains we had pan fried halibut and steamed hake. Both were excellent. We accompanied our dishes with wine by the glass from a good list--lots of interesting bottles. Our waiter was knowledgable and friendly ( extra bread and oil was provided without our asking when he saw how quickly it disappeared. We couldn't tackle desert having eaten too much on the holiday so far. Total bill, including two glasses of wine each, was 1430 NOK-- not cheap, but for Norway pretty good value. We thought it was very good.

Great food, great service, seafront location. The shellfish platter is a must. Plenty of tasty cold water shellfish nicely presented. OK wine list with reasonably priced alternatives.
