Description: Lofoten is an elegant, yet cosy and relaxed seafood restaurant on the edge of Aker Brygge with an exquisite maritime menu, good beverages and excellent service. Lofoten pride themselves in serving the best fish and seafood the sea has to offer. The restaurant's philosophy is to serve rustic food that not only looks good, but also tempts the palate and satisfies one's hunger. The menu changes 7-8 times a year and reflects each season's specialities. January-March: Steamed cod with liver and roe, flown in from Lofoten! April-September: Summer menu, 200 seats outside with a great view of the Oslo Fjord. October-December: The Norwegian speciality lutefisk (cod treated with lye).

Great resto...food good, wine list excellent and staff even better. Made you feel at home, relaxed and most of all we had a good laugh and a joke with the staff...not possible in most resto's.
As for who wrote "bless the chef"...must be some sort of plonker to say "rather overpriced"...if this person can tell me anything which is not overpriced in Norway then I would be extremely greatful....??
For those who haven't been...a beer is between $. 12 - 18 / GBP. 8 - 12 a pint, burgers $. 30 - 35 / GBP. 20 - 22...and it goes on......!!!

This place was recommended to us both by locals, hotel staff and guide books and we were not disappointed. Good choice of sea food, very friendly waiters, service is attentive and not rushed. I would definitely recommend this place. It's not cheap but this is the case everywhere in Norway

I have been here before, but not recently. This time I brought with me some foreign business partners who would like to eat Norwegian fish.
We had a great evening here with superb service and delicious food. They had just got in some fresh cod of a very good quality. We really enjoyed the food. It was also plenty of food. The cod was served twice. Together with a starter and dessert ths was a great meal. I gave the waiter the job of finding a great wine for us and she did. It is not a cheap restaurant, but not that expensive either. A three course meal with wine is about 1000 NOK a person.

We heard this was one of the best fish restaurants in Oslo but were quite disappointed. Food is not worth the reputation and rather overpriced, decent wine list. Location is quite nice with nice view if your table faces the bay.

Get the tasting menu and let the chefs do the work. You can't be disappointed. This is one of the best places in Oslo for traditional Norwegian seafood based cuisine.
