“Exquisite food, but pricey”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

Nodee offers excellent food in a nice setting. It's possible to sit outside and there are heat lamps for when it gets cold.

We did have to wait 5-10 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation. The staff is very helpful and seemed knowledgeable when asked about wine. We had a couple of sashimi dishes as entre. They were aesthetically pleasing and tasted as good as they looked. We had the crispy duck which you wrap with vegetables and hoi sin sauce as a main. This dish is simply delicious. Highly recommended! To end the meal we went for a 4 piece nigiri sushi set which had pieces you don't normally get. Foie gras on duck was especially good. We ended the night with jasmine tea. It's served in a heavy iron pot and tastes great.

I highly recommend coming to Nodee, but be aware that it can easily run you more than 600NOK. per person. Our night including champagne was above 1000NOK per person.

“Vying for the title of best sushi in Oslo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

Having not booked, when I saw how busy the restaurant was on a Saturday evening, I never expected to get a table for two for my friend and I. However with a wait of just over 30 minutes, we were asked if we minded sitting at the sushi bar, but would possibly have to finish by 10pm. Despite this, we never felt rushed to leave even though we left shortly before 1030pm.

Our waiter was excellent and the chefs special sushi, belly tuna with black truffles, whilst expensive was amazing. A fantastic selection of flavours and the best tuna I think I have ever had. We also had a small bottle of the gold Sake, which was served at a perfect temperature and was really good, whilst we decided on what else to eat.

We opted for a couple of types of dim sum, which the waiter advised was served as three portions but could add an extra one so we got two each. The fact that we didn´t need to ask this, and were advised in advance was really nice as it rarely happens or you end up having to order double portions. Supplementing this with the nigiri and sashimi platter. Which with the additional sushi was definitely more than enough for the two of us.

For the dim sum we had the prawn and king crab dumplings, and also the fried Wagyu beef with beef tenderloin. Both were fantastic, a great mash of flavours and textures. The sushi and sashimi was very good quality, I was particularly impressed with the octopus which was so tender, and the marinated tuna served in its only little bowl.

With a bottle of wine between us, including tip, this came to about 800 NOK each. Not cheap, but then the quality of the food was excellent. I must admit I was VERY impressed with the service, and as I previously said, our waiter was excellent.

“Warm atmos and nice Asian menu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Nodee is one of the better Asian restaurants in Oslo, and also in the higher price range. While Dinner offers mainly Szechuan Chinese, Nodee has a wider variety of Asian inspired dishes, including a decent sushi bar and á la carte.
The atmosphere is quite un-Asian, and lends to a relaxed and warm experience.
The service is very friendly, although our main waiter was visibly stressed. Blame it on a full house, or Friday.
We chose a three course menu, and received a tasty amuse-bouche before the starter. The food was presented delicately, and arrived in just the right tempo.
However, and there is a small "however", the main courses (lobster and Teriyaki steak) seemed to lack just a little something, being neither Asian nor anything else. The accompanying sauces were too much Hoi Sin and Five Spice - well known to the Chinese kitchen. Don't misunderstand, it was still very good.
And the dessert - sorbet and crème brûlée was simply perfect.

Make sure to book a table in advance, especially for the busy weekend days.

“Great sushi experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Located close to Majorstua station (reachable by bus, tram and subway) Nodee is centrally situated in Oslo.
We were 10 minutes late for our reservation, and we had to wait another 10 for our table. The reception/waiting area is small and busy so you don´t wanna wait for a longer period of time.

Once seated everything went smoothly - nicely decorated, low ceilings (not very noisy even fully booked) and fast and polite service from the waitors. I´m not a very experienced sushi eater but Nodee got me on the hook - it tasted brilliant. Great variations and very nice presentation. Some more experienced sushi eaters in our company also thought it was very very good.

PS. Their prices are on the high side, but this you can check out for yourself at their website.

“Topmost value!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

Where a higher rated Asian in town quickly remind you of your allocated time with them, even as dessert is being served a bit delayed, Nodee too operates on pre-arranged times, and then are relaxed about how things develop naturally as courses are presented. We ordered set menues. They came as six dishes at NOK 750 (inclusive of a mouthful of weigu beef), a real bargain with regard to what we had. All dishes were wonderfully presented and various tastes exceeding one another. Throughout the meal the topmost impressive tastes were the crispy duck that entered the mouth crispy and then something happened and it exploded/melted in a funny way leaving the palate astonished at what taste it had been exposed to. We laughed in amazement. The secong favourite was the little chocolate fondant that came in a combo of assortments. I say only one thing: TRY IT and you'll thank me! Accompanying wines were carefully selected and good choices. Adding the sweetest Polish girl waiting on us, we were not extremely sorry not having managed to secure a table at Palace Grill as we had forst wanted.
