Having not booked, when I saw how busy the restaurant was on a Saturday evening, I never expected to get a table for two for my friend and I. However with a wait of just over 30 minutes, we were asked if we minded sitting at the sushi bar, but would possibly have to finish by 10pm. Despite this, we never felt rushed to leave even though we left shortly before 1030pm.
Our waiter was excellent and the chefs special sushi, belly tuna with black truffles, whilst expensive was amazing. A fantastic selection of flavours and the best tuna I think I have ever had. We also had a small bottle of the gold Sake, which was served at a perfect temperature and was really good, whilst we decided on what else to eat.
We opted for a couple of types of dim sum, which the waiter advised was served as three portions but could add an extra one so we got two each. The fact that we didn´t need to ask this, and were advised in advance was really nice as it rarely happens or you end up having to order double portions. Supplementing this with the nigiri and sashimi platter. Which with the additional sushi was definitely more than enough for the two of us.
For the dim sum we had the prawn and king crab dumplings, and also the fried Wagyu beef with beef tenderloin. Both were fantastic, a great mash of flavours and textures. The sushi and sashimi was very good quality, I was particularly impressed with the octopus which was so tender, and the marinated tuna served in its only little bowl.
With a bottle of wine between us, including tip, this came to about 800 NOK each. Not cheap, but then the quality of the food was excellent. I must admit I was VERY impressed with the service, and as I previously said, our waiter was excellent.
