A very imposing and modern piece of architecture that dominates one shoreline of the harbour. It is Oslo's answer to the Sydney Opera House. Although I did not tour inside it, the surrounding area has a lively atmospere as there is an impressive marina closeby and this is a great location to watch the port of Oslo in action.

I usually have to drag my boyfriend to museums but as soon as we walked in he was mesmerised. For once in his life he took as many pictures as i did! It was the Alex Israel exhibiton we attended and it was right up our street. Highly recommend a visit

Greeting and many thanks for you review and recommendation of Astrup Fearnley Museet! We are very pleased to read you enjoyed our exhibitions.

To describe the #AlexIsrael-exhibition as "Best exhibition I've ever seen" is truly humbling. I'd like to thank you for sharing your thoughts.

There are two buildings, one with an ever changing exhibit and one that remains the same. Both were excellent. Alex Israel's tongue-in-cheek homage to youth culture in 1980's LA is visually stunning and delivered through a range of mediums, including talk show style interviews.

It's expensive and there's no discount for the elderly. Every panel you read seems to read '20th Century US artist exploring themes of alienation, commercialisation and gender'. It's just not a very good collection. Even if you do bear in mind that, you know - it's not New York - but it IS a capital city and as such should reflect some great contemporary art, right? Highlight include 2 Anselm Kiefer pieces, Ole Sjølie and the 1 piece by abhorrent Jeff Koons. Oh and the wheelchair access is pathetic.

Visited this private modern art museum second time now in August. Really enjoyed the museums temporary Alex Israel exhibition, interesting and even funny cultural pieces. This museum has temp and perm exhibitions in two different buildings which are next to each other. The permanent has some quite fascinating art and also some pieces I do not enjoy seeing. But that's art; it's in the viewers eyes.
