Check for current exhibitions in addition to the museum's own collection. Nice restaurant with sea view.

It’s overly simplistic to call the art “mediocre“. It is modern. And as with anything else relating to art – it is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I liked some, found some of it provoking or stimulating, while other parts I found a waste of space. I could have said the same about art in the Guggenheim of NYC. The main difference being that the collection here is more contemporary, and MUCH smaller. Worth a visit, if you’re interested in modern art. And yes, the building is quite nice too.

This is an ultramodern building on the waterfront in a very fashionable part of Oslo, next to the Aker Brygge. If you are not a modern arts enthusiast, don’t expect too much in the way of a great experience visiting the exhibitions. If you do like contemporary or modern art they have a lot to offer. There is a restaurant at this location, but my experience with this isn’t very good and I would rather recommend you to eat in one of the other restaurants, on Aker Brygge or in the neighborhood.

I love modern art, but wasn't thrilled with what I saw here. The building and site are wonderful though, so worth a visit.
