This lake is located at the end of one of the metro lines in Oslo. The metro line brings you to the lake every 15 min. The distance around the lake is approx 3,2 km. The area is very popular among local joggers as there is no asphalt around the lake, and biking is prohibited. There is even a kiosk, and the lake is also used for bathing in summer time.

The lake is so large, the water so clean and the surrounding area for walking and running so huge everyone can find his place to relax after a day of work. You have a small waffle-shop close to the main beach with all the kids and just dozens of meters aside, you can find an oasis of peace (my experience with the locals has always been very positive in this respect, so only a rude visitor would spoil the calm by yelling carelessly).
Parents teach their kids how to swim while Norwegians in their seventies swim across the lake there and back again. It is simply always a pleasant time to be here.

The cons is that you have to drive or take thane to get there, so there is automatically a fee for that. But it would just cost you very little. For drivers there are plenty of parking places, but normally in the middle of summer they are all taken. Toillet facilities are not the best, use the forest!
Swimming, bbq-ing, walking around, beautiful nature, worth trying it. Skiing in vintner.

It is really worthwhile to take the linje 6 to sognsvann to jog or walk around the lake. If the weather is nice make sure you bring your swimsuit and a picnic basket or BBQ. It is really beautiful and peaceful there and feels like you are fat away from the big city.
