Aker Brygge is a nice place for a walk. You also get a decent view of the Oslo Fjord. There are a few good restaurant there but the prices are sky high. Olivia Aker Brygge is good for a pizza. Would recommend going away from Aker Brygge if you aren't interested in paying a fortune for a meal.
Aker Brygge is the place to be in Oslo. It has a plethora of shops and restaurants. (The food is excellent at all of them.) In addition, the view of the Oslofjord is splendid.
This small neighborhood sits on the Western part of the wharf that surrounds the Northern end of Oslo Fjord. It starts with the Nobel Peace Center and continues with a number of mixed utility buildings, none higher than about 4-5 stories. Part of the way, cars drive in; the rest is pedestrians only. The ground floor of all the buildings is occupied by dozens of restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlors and bars. The places is packed in the evenings with local revelers and visitors. Spontaneous dances may start in open areas. Akker Brygge is also the location from where many of the ferries leave for the outlying areas of Oslo and also houses several marinas. It offers a great view of Akershus Fortress, across the Fjord and the Fjord itself.
This was my 50 years celebration to Oslo and it has changed a lot. The last time I visited here the Aker Brygge was just partly built up but Now it is really a handsome place.
Awesome wharf area to walk around in. Plenty of wonderful bars and restaurants to choose from, this is a very vibrant area, easily walkable. Friendly people, many choices of places to sit, snack, eat, drink and people watch. Lots of activity on the weekends. It’s a wonderful place to go and just sit and relax on a bench, if you aren’t too hungry. There are ice cream and other food vendors to choose from beside the bars and restaurants.
