The crab was delicious the oysters out of this world and a simple fish and chips to die for. Brilliant service. Highly recommended.

The Mathallen Food Hall is not to be missed. It offers a wide range of cuisine, however I did not travel to Norway for Hungarian, Italian, or Japanese food. On the other hand VulkanFisk was exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price (for vacationers). The food was excellent. This is a food hall (think VERY upscale food court) so there was no table service, although they did give out pagers to notify you when your food was ready. We took the food to a central table area and enjoyed it as we people watched the patrons of the hall.

The only reason I did not rate them a 5 is their catch of the day was whale - I am very much opposed to eating (or hunting) cetaceans - period!!!

All the meals are delicious! The soup is amazing, the sauce of the shrimps is delicious, the fish and chips is very good, the fries... Everything !
The prices are very good for Oslo which is usually expensive...
The waiters are really nice.
Perfect address.

The restaurant is located inside the Vulcano food center, in a nice area quite far from the city centre. Here we ate the best fish in Oslo. Even though the prices are the same as other restaurants in the city, the quality is far better and the portions are larger than the average (not too large, though). The restaurant tend to be full in the evening expecially during the week-end. We ate fish and chips (nice), mussels (very good), fish soup (tasty but not so large portion) and fried scampi (excellent, but small portion).

We booked a table for good Friday and were glad that we did as the place was pretty full at 8pm. We ordered the scampi and the fish soup and both meals were lovely. The only downside was that the portion size of our meals was quite small as compared to the fish and chips. If you are looking for fresh, well cooked seafood in a modern setting then you can’t go wrong with this place.
