This hotel is an economy hotel and offers little extra services or amenities to its guests - perfect when you really dont need more than a bed for the night! The hotel is brand new in 2013 and looks great. The room we had was small, (we even had the deluxe room) but had a very nice sized bathroom. Problably serves as a good room for handicapped I think. The room had a nice doublebed, a desk, a flatscreen and storage for our suitcases. Nice and bright room, but not a great view. We had a window facing a kind of courtyard inside the hotel, on the 5th floor. Like I said, if you care about such things, dont get a room here. We thought this hotel was perfect for us as we only stayed one night visiting Oslo for a concert - perfect! We will definately visit here again, cheap and clean nice room!!

Room Tip: Probably a good idea to upgrade to a superior room or deluxe, whatever they called it, if you need s...

Stay at this hotel just 10 days after opening so everything's new !
Very well located, ultra clean, excellent and helpful efficient service. Very good price.
Amazing and generous breakfast buffet with quality local fresh food

Because the hotel just opened, there's a little issues to fix like planning more food for all the breakfast duration and complete choice (not chocolate milk !).

The only thing you have to know, it's that it's a very minimalist hotel ; so the rooms are really small and it's impossible to be 2 in the same time in the bathroom !
Also no storage for clothes.

Was here with a friend for 2 nights, so the space was ok, but not sure for a longer stay.

Would definitely go back to this hotel if alone and for a short stay.

Apart from the location, this hotel has nothing good. We were in two and booked a ‘double room’. Don’t know whether this is the right term though, due to its’ size being extremely small.

Being a smart hotel does not mean that two persons couldn’t move freely around the room. One has to wait for the other to move out of the way, simply even to reach the bathroom. And what should be said about the bathroom..oh my! It is literally tiny!

One even has to roll from one side of the bed to the other to reach sleeping position, this because of the room being so small. If the person staying on the inside needs to get up, the person staying on the outer side should move too, therefore if the person on the inside needs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, the other person must wake up too.

No wardrobe, no table, only one chair and 2 hangers for clothes. There wasn’t even room where to place our 2 normal luggage bags on the floor because they will be in the way and you can’t even open the hotel room door if so. Rooms are too crammed and claustrophobic.

Estimated room dimensions are 3m x 2m…including bathroom!!

Maid service is not available on weekends.

Breakfast is a little expensive.

Supermarkets are very near, one of them is across the street..it’s called the KIWI Pris.

Staff is friendly and good English speakers. We felt like most Norwegians are fluent in the English language, even chamber maids at the hotel.

Think twice before booking! Don’t let the low price fool you! The low price(considered low is when compared to other hotels - because it still wasn’t THAT cheap) could also have been due to the fact that the hotel was brand new and only opened in July 2013..we stayed there in August 2013. They might have kept prices low at initial phases.

Good Luck!

Room Tip: I suggest single travelers to book a double room…could be a tinier bigger than single ones.

Our standard double room was tiny - no phone, no frills, no minibar, no closet, small window with no view, barely any floor space (we had to move our open suitcase every time we went to the bathroom), miniature sink, and a bed barely big enough for two. However, the location was good, the lobby was spacious, everything was clean and quiet, the drains drained, the flat-screen TV worked, the air temperature was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water pressure. Since there's nothing in the room as an extra and you pay ahead of time, checkout takes 1 second (the time it takes to take your room key out and put it on the counter). If the above is what you're expecting, then you will rate it "very good." If you're expecting a conventional hotel, you will be disappointed.

We haven´t booked bevore cause we thought we´ll stay longer inland.
I asked for a nice room for two, but they gave us a tiny room were you aren´t able even to turn your suitcase and when we asked at the reseption for a bigger they said yes we have a bigger one for more money.... a bit strange... I told her please a nice room for two...
The personal an the reseption was really sometimes helpless and unfriendly or unpolite.
The information we asked for was answered not well tought out.
The breakefast isn´t includet in the roomprice. (Go anywere else to get your breakfast = better and cheaper)
The good thing on this hotel was the price (very fair for Oslo) and you are in five minutes at the main Street, and fiveteen at the oper , twenty minutes to get to the old town.

Room Tip: Don´t take a room with the windows to the street.

I stayed here three night, it's a new hotel located on a very good and central location. You can do everything by walking, and you see lots of beatiful buildings and cosy streets that this city has to offer.
Although the single rooms were very small, is was god enough, a very clean place and quite affordable for the prices in Norway. Great bed, very soft!

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are quiet and clean.

We, 3 friends visiting the city together, have just stayed in the hotel in September. It was very close to the major train station (5 min walk) in a good neighbourhood.
It is not the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed, and the lobby layout itself looked like a hostel, but for the price we have paid - in such an expensive city - it's fantastic value for money.

The good:
*Comfy bed and pillows *Clean *Great shower *Fantastic location *Free and stable wi-fi *Chill out lounge and dinning area *Iced water at reception for guests *Microwave at dinning area

In fact the amenities such as microwave and free sitting dinning area is perfect for budget travellers who can choose to dine in instead of going out.

The bad:
*Very small rooms *Some staffs did not seem very welcoming *Door handle is super stiff (we were told that it's because the hotel is so new that the door handles are not in the optimum condition yet!)

The little imperfections did not hamper the experience and I would come back to Smarthotel Oslo if I were to visit the city again. I am sure the experience will get better as the hotel and the staffs go into the full operational mode.

Room Tip: 3 of us shared a room with an added bed - the room has literally no space left - ask if there is any...
