Upmarket hostel - that is the impression we both had. Kettle and cutlery downstairs, shared fridge, very minimalistic room - no even wardrobe. But did the job as a place to sleep. Very convenient location for train station. Would stay there again.

The Citybox is a great option for travelers who don't need the extra frills, just a nice, clean room in a good location. The rooms were attractive and clean. It is self-check-in and check out, no breakfast, but everything feels relatively new and clean. It is an easy walk from the train station (even with 2 big suitcases, a stroller and 11 month old!) and super close to everything in the Oslo center area.

If you are looking for full-service, keep looking. But if you don't plan on chatting up a concierge and can find your own breakfast, this is a great option.

The hotel is cheap (fro Oslo) and very handy for the railway station and waterfront, including the Opera House. First time I've used a reception-less hotel and it all came as a bit of a surprise, but the young man who was manning the office couldn't have been much more helpful. Also, as I was planning wearing a kilt but wasn't sure f the kilt pin would be allowed on a plane, i sent the pin on and Citybox held on to till i arrived. Room was basic but clean and comfortable. No TV or tea/coffee making facilities, but as is pointed out elsewhere, the idea behind this hotel is that it's aimed at people who don't spend a lot of time in the room, but are out and about doing what they came here for (as I was so i can't say i missed anything. Coffee and food machines on ground floor).
Area was a bit noisy due to building works, but this is hardly the fault of the hotel and won't go on forever.
Plenty cafes and food shops in the area.
If I'm back in Oslo, Citybox would be high on my list of places to stay

Hi kiltedladdie!

Thank you so much for a great review of our hotel!

Really nice to hear that you found us to be cheap (for Oslo), and that you liked our location. Also appreciate to hear that our Citybox Host could offer the help you needed! You seem to understand quite a lot of what we are trying to do here, and we can understand your point that maybe not everyone would like our concept! That is how it is when we are different! But for guests that want value for money, and a simple and modern solution with a great location, we really try to offer a good deal - and by the looks of it, you seem to agree with us!

Hope to see you again next time you are in Oslo!

Best wishes,
Citybox Oslo

I booked a few nights at Citybox because I couldn't find any good hostels in Oslo. I was extremely impressed by this hotel. It was cleaner and nicer than many regular (higher) priced hotels back home. I came to Oslo to see the city, not sit in a hotel so this had exactly what I needed and nothing more. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. I loved the energy saving key cards! The room was plain in a good way- very clean and bright! The check in and out process was very quick and easy. We had one issue with the computer while checking in but we were assisted immediately. The location cannot be beat. I am crossing my fingers that some cute budget hotels make their way to the U.S.!

Room tip: Bath towels are included and their are snacks and toiletries for purchase in the lobby vending machine!

Hi lauralb1117!

Wow! Thanks for an amazing review of our hotel!

We are just humbled and inspired by all your kind words! Nothing pleases us more than to hear from guests that seem to understand and like our concept!
We also really hope that someone could open a similar concept as ours in the US as we would love to stay there ourselves! :) And who knows, maybe we will be able to expand?

Thanks again for your great recommendation!

Great hotel!! Small comfy and lovely rooms! We were in Oslo for three days and this hotel was exactly what we needed! It is located 5minutes away from the central station and you can walk to the main attraction of the city. Also really quiet and really clean. The staff was really polite and helpful, and you can ask for hair dryer and towels for free! (I haven't even been asked for my passport or for a deposit!)
I would definitely recommend it for a three days trip!

Hi!

Unfortunately there had been created a duplicat profile of our hotel at Tripadvisor. We managed to connect the two profiles in June 2016. But when we connected these two profiles we received over 150 reviews that had not yet received a response.

We take all feedback from you Tripadvisor-reviewers very seriously, and we therefore normally always respond within 2 days. However, as many of the extra 150 reviews deal with matters that we have already reacted to (many are even from before our completed expansion in December 2015) were are not able to write an individual response for each review. But rest assured that all the 150 reviews were still read, and we greatly appreciate all the feedback!

Thanks for making us better, and hope you will visit us again! :)

Best wishes,
Citybox Oslo
