This is as good as renting a private apartment can get! My wife and I stayed here for two weeks in September and enjoyed every minute of it. Communication with Nils was always quick and very friendly and the housekeeper met us on time to hand over the keys. The apartment is as described and as shown on the pictures, very neatly decorated and furnished and equipped with everything necessary for a short term stay including Apple TV, cable TV and free WiFi. The location is great, right on Tjuvholmen, surrounded by water and with an unequalled variety of restaurants close by. The city is within walking distance and so is public transport. Next time we are in Oslo we will definetely try to stay here again, no matter if only for a couple of days or again for a longer time period. Hint: on a nice evening, use the roof top terrace!
Once we gained entry to the apartment block, we found the entry system bewildering, (instruction on this would have been appreciated), and obtained the keys everything was marvelous. Every modern convenience apart from a micro-wave, in a wonderful location, right in the centre, Masses of restaurants, boats, ships, absolutely buzzing.
Loved it and hope to come again.
Fortunate enough to have stayed here in late July. Oslo was in the middle of a heat wave which was breaking all records! One of the nice things about the apartment is that it is on water and at night we got cool breezes which really helped mitigate the daytime heat. Left the windows wide open, with no bugs!!!!
We loved the location of the apartment. Easy to find, right next to The Thief Hotel. Tons of restaurants and stores in the area. A market for food and other items was only a five minute walk. The apartment was simply furnished Ikea style, with everything vacationers could need. Very clean as well! The owner supplied toilet tissue, paper towels and detergent for the washing machine. He left a few other items for us as well which were greatly appreciated. Since it was so hot, it was really nice to be able to wash and dry clothes during our stay. Also provided was a Bose speaker system so I could plug my iPhone in for music. We also had access to an Apple TV , which was great to watch movies from my iPad in the evening.
The building is very secure as well. We especially liked sitting out on the balcony. If we had been in a hotel, we would have been confined to the room at night. With the balcony we could sit outside as late as we wanted, enjoying the night air.
The whole process of booking the apartment was seamless. The owner is very responsive to all inquiries. We texted him when we arrived in Oslo and he met us at the apartment to give us the key and information about the apartment. During our stay we texted him with several logistical questions and we always heard from him promptly.
I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Oslo. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights here!
The apartment is new, clean, quiet and located in the hip part of town with a nice view of the water. Nils, the owner, could not have been nicer or more helpful! It's the perfect pied a terre for 2 with great restaurants, city hall, the Astrup Fearnley and the Oslo fjord cruise departure point around the corner. Can't wait to go back!

Nils’s apartment was absolutely perfect! The clean, bright, inviting and well maintained place has all the amenities needed for myself and part time for my partner who visited me for some days. Especially, the bedroom is a highlight with its “Jensen” bed - it promises a heavenly sleep experience. And the underfloor heating in the bathroom is pure gold for cold female feet. All the time I felt like being somehow “at home” and I really enjoyed the stay at Tjuvholmen, in my view one of the most beautiful places in Oslo. Nils is very hospitable, personable, helpful and friendly. Despite I didn’t meet Nils personally all the things that had to be managed were easy going. All my requests that I had, there were not so much, were answered very fast! Therefore, I definitely recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Oslo!

What an amazing place to stay, both the apartment and it's situation was fantastic. Nils could not have been a better host. The apartment was even nicer than photos suggest, which i had thought were already impressive to start with, and so warm and cozy. It was such a great place to return to at the end of a day. Highly recommend!

Pros:
Once you work out transport, the flat is not so far away from central, a bus or tram can take you from the central train station to a stop within a few minutes walk from the flat [not close from airport]
Near a minimart [the joker] & a bakery & a couple of restaurants
Nice clean flat, has washer/dryer in the compact bathroom [which we didn’t try using as it was first stop on the holiday]
Several tv stations although none with English entertainment, more like news etc
Comfortable bed, really soft & I slept so well on it
Oven & good sized fridge & basic home amenities
Pretty quiet & peaceful around this area probably as it is not central
Cons:
Might have been our experience as we had troubles communicating with host through site leading up to arrival, but difficult to find initially as mention was made of it being between the bakery where we picked up the keys & between the thief hotel, wandered around for ages & no locals knew where to guide us & the bakery person handing over keys did not have any idea [building is actually a couple of doors from the right from the thief hotel]
Not actually waterfront or with any more than a sliver of water views [you can see some water underneath a neighbouring apartment building & between a dock]
Heating seems to kick in centrally at a certain time but if you’re there in winter daytime it may be a bit cool for a while. A fan & radiator on the wall did not warm anything up so we at least assume, that it’s centrally controlled
Shower doesn’t drain that well so after a short while you’re standing in a big puddle/small lake
Overall, is economical for Norway & I would consider staying again.
