Fru K is the restaurant of The Thief hotel and we had a three course menu that was included in the room package. Atmosphere and service were excellent. The menu was well put together from traditional ingredients (potatoes, onion, fish, pork neck, ...) and all courses were excellent. The courses were not too fancy, but fancy enough to show the skills of the kitchen. Wine list was extensive with also plenty of choices to order by the glass. Considering the price I take one point off because the otherwise excellent pork neck had a little inedible part (only in my portion), which was a yacky surprise to bite into as the course clearly was not designed to leave scraps.

This is a fabulous restaurant - at The Thief Hotel in Oslo. Everything is top class - the wine list features Romanee Conti, Chateau Yquem, Chateau Margaux, Haut Brion.. But also affordable tho quality wines, and not only French. The food is also great, from crab to soup, from lamb to fish... The restaurant has multiple-course menus too. Quantity is just fine. Interesting setting with kitchen directly visible. Tables not too close. All is well... I was invited, so cannot comment too much on cost, but this probably quite pricey, for special occasions.

This restaurant really impresses by its interior. The atmosphere at the hotel restaurant is just great. It is modern and chic all the way and you can easily spend some time there.
Unfortunately, the food experience was not as impressive as expected. It was good food and it was also nicely presented, but you expect the "bit extra" if you eat at Fru K. Once the bottle of champagne was opened, it was placed on a little bench close to us without any cooling. I personally expect more within the price category but we might give it another try.

We went there in a group of four to celebrate two birthdays, but weren't really satisfied. I almost felt bad for having chosen this restaurant after reading about it in a food magazine. The special occasion wasn't mentioned or taken up at all and made us kinda disappointed.
Some of the dishes served were boring and flavorless, some others quite good. But altogether definitely not worth their price.
The service was almost excellent, apart from some inattentive moments and the fact that none of the bottles of champagne we had were cooled properly; they just stood around.
But we had a very nice and friendly German waitress who managed to make us turn a blind eye to the mistakes.
The interior is absolutely wonderful and creates an atmosphere in which you easily can feel at home. Nevertheless I cannot really recommend to go there due to those two crucial mistakes.

I was fortunate to stay 5 days/4 nights at the Thief and have dinner at Fru K. We had a 3 course wine pairing dinner that was creative and beautifully displayed. I normally hate all seafood but decided that I would try everything and I was glad I did. The chef is a locovore so the cuisine varies based on what he gets that day. The garlic soup was delicious and the cod was flavorful. The ambience was very nice, the wait staff attentive to the right degree and the way the place is set up you can lounge around in one of the many seating areas.
