Attraction details
Owner description: The two small roads Damstredet and Telthusbakken are found just below the medieval church Gamle Aker kirke. This is a charming and pictoresque part of town with well-preserved and inhabited wooden houses from the late 18th and early 19th century. The allotment gardens on the south side of Telthusbakken give the area a countryside atmosphere.

Excellently preserved area of old houses. Like a museum, but alive wiith real people living there. Walk up one street and down the other. Visit Vestre Aker kirke (from Middle ages) and nearby Mathallen for lunch/snack

“Very nice and pretty wooden houses in a green environment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

I went there with my 3 children aged 7, 9 and 11 and they liked it. We walked from the cathedral straight to Telthusbakken, approximately 30 minutes walk. It shows a very different aspect from Oslo. It's complementary to the Norsk Folkeùmusuem in the sense that you see how were the house before and how people used to live. Thenwe walked to the West across a park and the Aker river to have dinner in a restaurant and take the tram back to our appartment. A very nice walk.
