We arrived late at night and quite tired as we'd done the Norway in a Nutshell Tour from Bergen(highly recommended) and the very nice man in reception-by far the friendliest hotel receptionist we came across in Norway- gave us an inside room, as it would be quieter.Room was fine if a bit 'faded' and had the ubiquitous(in Norway) two singles pushed together to make a double, which we hate
The public areas are really nice (if you like the Olde Worlde look) and we treated ourselves to tea and cake in the lobby bar-which didn't cost much more than in Tromso. Also ate in Bristol Grill which was good (we'd got used to Norway prices by the end of our trip and threw caution to the winds...they do wine by the carafe) and we found the waiter not at all 'snooty' as I have read elsewhere. Breakfast was excellent if not quite as wide a choice as the Rica Ishvahotel (which is a bit OTT).
Good location especially in winter-we stuck to the museums in town as it was too cold to venture to the harbour or the sculpture park (wind chill of -19), though we did walk up to the Royal Palace and back down the main street to Oslo Cathedral and back to hotel.Down to the harbour can't be more than 15 mins .
We got a train from Central to National Theatre station (even that -one stop-was about £4 each) and walked the rest-about 10mins. I would think its about a 15-20 min walk from station but we didn't realise that . Taxis are presumably even more expensive in Oslo than elsewhere,it being the capital. Tip-book the airport bus online . It's cheaper (which I'd checked this for Bergen and Tromso too)
I too suffered from the static..weird!

Room Tip: If you mind about noise ask for an inside room I suspect the ones featured in photos are club/more e...

hotel is traditional and has a certain relaxing feeling about it. Great location , great atmosphere and certainly wonderful staff.

I booked via Hotel Club and had an excellent deal inc breakfast as Norway can be very expensive.

only thing to watch out for is the STATIC on everything.. carry a pen with you to press the lift buttons !

Room Tip: Quiet rooms 5th floor side very good

Efficient and informative check-in. Beautifully appointed and elegant bedroom with bath and shower. Mini bar contents are electronically linked to your account..... so only remove items if you intend to consume them. Room safe, dressing table/desk with morror and table lamp. Reasonable storage space but shelf and cupboard space limited. The hotel has a fitness centre with exercise machines and sauna. A 'guest office' is equipped with computer, printer and internet access just in case you need to check-in with the airline and print off those boarding cards. There is free wi-fi in the rooms. There are ice machines on two floors - so to chill a reasonably priced bottle of wine (for Norway!) we went out of the Hotel entrance, turned left, then right at the traffic lights and into Vinmonopolet on the right hand side of the street, bottle into carrier bag and fill with ice from the machine back at the hotel. Simples! Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and very good service. There is a left luggage facility and we used this as we went off sightseeing before our flight. The Flybussen airport stop is just a one minute stroll away from the hotel. Great location for exploring the city, superb hotel with excellent staff. One of the best city hotels we have ever stayed at.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms looking out onto the street to get an undisturbed night's sleep

If you can afford to visit Oslo, you could do a lot worse than splash out and have a couple of nights at the Hotel Bristol. Very elegant, with an old world charm but very modern rooms and very genteel, obliging staff. We stayed for two nights and almost felt like staying in our room just to enjoy the comfort and luxury - besides it was snowing outside. The hotel has free wifi everywhere and it is not limited to one device, which was a bonus. Breakfast was sumptuous and so full of choice, it was hard to decide what to have. However, scrambled eggs cooked to perfection in front of us was the ideal choice. All in all, a superb stay, well worth whatever it cost.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, ask for a club room. It gives you just that extra bit of space to spread your...

Had a very pleasant stay at the Bristol in Oslo for one night in March 2013. Excellent and swift check-in procedure, nice and clean room. A very nice bar with attentive and educated barkeeper.
The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of cold and hot food.
Only thing that wasn't top notch was that it was a little noisy room (street noise), even though I stayed on the 5th floor, but the beds were excellent so had a nice sleep anyway.
Old time charm and a great plus for the Bar/ Restaurant made it yet another pleasant stay at the Bristol.

This hotel offers elegance and some very nice rooms also I liked the room size and the staff are always helpful and friendly. The breakfast was also very nicely served and a great selection. The lobby of the hotel is impressive if you would like to sit down and meet friends the bar is also comfortable with nice lighting. I would recommend this hotel and would return.

Great location close to restaurants and transport links. Old fashioned grand opulence with a lively buzz about it. Check in staff helpful and efficient. Only problem was the lack of hot water for an early morning shower!
