Reviewed April 3, 2014

The receptionist and the other stuffs is very friendly to us. The living or waiting area is clean and tidy. Our room is cleaned and very cozy to stay. The place is very quite and it you feel like home. The breakfast is ready on time. The tram or train station going to the central of Oslo is 1 minute walk from the hotel it is very convenient. In general B&B is a nice and comfortable to stay. We are looking forward to stay again in Ellingsens Pensjonat when we have a time to travel again in Oslo.

Trying too hard to be trendy!
First of all this is not a place for people with any form of infirmity or with heavy luggage. Too many very very steep steps and no lift.
The B&B is an old block of apartments converted to a B&B so you have to accept that not everything is exactly uniform, which in itself is OK. Tiny reception area. Not the most welcoming of receptionists. Possibly to do with it being a non national speaking a third language. Don't bother to get there before 14:00, you will be told in no uncertain terms that check-in isn't until then!
Basically the hotel was decorated by somebody copying a picture of shabby & chic they have seen in a style magazine (or at least thats the impression it gave me) and gone over the top. Our room was on the top floor not easy t get there when carrying a suitcase and bags. The room itself was large and comfortable, with a big sofa to relax on. The beds were cheap IKEA mattresses and not to comfortable, with two sheets spread over because they obviously didint have double sheets. The bathroom was a joke. About 1 metre wide and 4 long, nicely decorated but not enough room to bend over the wash basin and you have to enter the shower sideways to get in. The toilet is at an angle to the wall and faces directly to a window with no curtain, out of which you get an excellent view of the neighbours whilst sitting there and of course they you!
The breakfast has a relativity good selection but is eaten on a communal table and felt a bit cramped.
All in all, not good value for money when you realise you can get a fairly good 3-4 star hotel with far more facilities and less restrictions in the same area.

Room Tip: Adequate for a single person on a business trip for one night

No problems arriving - even after hours they had supplied required security code in advance and it was easy. Room was basic but perfectly adequate. Shared facilites clean - I was in low season and it didn't feel like it was very full. Location is great as long as you're not lazy - less than 10 minutes walk gets you into the city centre. Staff friendly in the morning. Wifi wasn't great if that's important to you. Not much else to say. For something between hotel and hostel but reasonably priced, this was great - especially in an expensive city like Oslo.

When I arrived I saw that the room was not very clean + the bathroom was horriblly dirty. There was even left over shampoo-bottles from the previous guest and used toiletpaper. The minibar was not full.
I told the reception + the cleaners about this, but they did not do anything.
They just told me to tell the reception the next day.
So I did, but the reception said that that was not possible, because noone had stayed there after they put a New minibar in. So, not only did I have to stay in a dirty room, I also felt that they did not believe me eventhough I had told them the very moment I arrived.
Too bad such cosy surroundings are kept so bad.

This is a quite nice place, about 15mins walk from central Oslo.
It has free wifi, though I did find it a little intermittent, especially from my room.
Shower room is just along from my room. It's long and narrow, but it's all good and has a heated floor. :)
Exterior could be tidier. There is a little debris just outside the entrance.
I would also like to thank the staff for there helpfulness in getting my mislaid luggage back to me under difficult circumstances.

Stayed here on our first night in Norway, had a little help from the tourist office to find the place as it was a little out the way of the main goings on, but that is just how we like it. the staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms was lovely and clean with everything you would need in, food basket, beds, tv, table and the shared bathrooms showers were in good order (get up early to avoid the rush)
as a one night budget stay it is ideal and we would definitely use it again.

Room Tip: go for a high up room to avoid road noise (not that there is much)
