Hanami is one of the new up&coming restaurants in trendy urban area Tjuvholmen. They serve modern Japanese / Asian fusion cousines- extraordinary prepared and presented. The food is served like tapas and to share.
In short time it has become a popular and trendy place.
This was my first visit and Hanami did not live up to my high expectations.
Yes, the cources were extraordinary prepared and presented, but the ingredients and specially the quality of the fish sashimi should be better, take into consideration the extremly high prices you have to pay for the meal. Specially the tuna quality was low and way beyond average. Many of the fish sashimi dishes had lots of sauces to hide the lower fish quality.
My favourites were the smoked halibut sashimi and the miso marinated black cod.

The interiour inside is fancy and modern. Instead of sitting outside (like we did), I'd rather sit inside by the sushi bar, with a great view to the chef and restaurant interiour. Sitting outside you have mainly the view to a construction area and a very small part of the Oslo fjord. Dont sit at the robata grill either. Here it is hot and many people crossing & going to the restroom.

Because of the high prices and the lower fish quality, I would rate this restaurant as average (3*), but I give it one more * because of the untraditional way they present the food and because of the modern interiour.
If you are looking for high quality fish and a great sushi experience at the same price level as Hanami - go to Alex Sushi instead. At Alex you will get better service and more wine competent staff also.

I went here with my girlfriend to have a romantic dinner.
We choose the chefs menu which consisted of 5-6 different servings, all from sashimi to grilled meat. The food was excellent. The atmosphere by the waterfront is among the best in Oslo.
The only thing keeping me from giving it full score is the price. For the menu, 1 bottle of white wine (Sancerre Ultimus, NOK 859). 2 glasses of red wine, 2 Asian Pale ale and 2 coffees the check amounted to NOK 3400 including 10 % tip.

Quite new upscale restaurant at Tjuvholmen. This restaurant offers asian inspired food, both fish and meat. The quality of the food is high, most courses are meant to be shared. Everythin we had was very tasty, I spesifically recommend the Korean beef. But this is also an expensive restaurant. Most people I have spoken to have noticed the high price level.

This restaurant is in the new and fancy Tjuvholmen, great area. The place is very popular. The Food was good, but what a price for hardly no food. a tiny piece of cod with NOTHING else on the plate was 359 kr/US§ 59!!!!, this is like a little starter. This is Oslo and the food was good, but my God this is toooooo much. I would rather go to Mr. Bay nearby and get better food, it's my opinion and at least less expencive. Sorry Hanami, you are just too overpriced. Service was good, not 5*, should be considering the price.

A rather small restaurant in one of the newest and most fashionable areas of the city. The place is summing up how the capital may look in a few years. The food is of excellent quality, efficiently served in beautiful, but urban surroundings. If you want to relax, but you still wish to see some people around you, this is the place to go.
