“Superb timber hotel looking far across Oslo”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

The Holmenkollen gazes out majestically over Oslo and far beyond, into the bay toward Drobak, East toward Lillestrom and Southwest toward Drammen. It is very easy to reach by the metro, which winds its way up the hill from the city centre for just 30 NOK. As others have said, just behind is the most stunning ski jump and if you take a walk up the hill into the ski area, you will find another large one and an old wooden one in the woods. The staff are quite excellent. They are gracious and helpful. The restaurants are very pleasing. A standard carvery that also delivers breakfast and then a top quality restaurant serving a 7 course meal with fine wine. The spa is simple but beautiful, with all the bits you can see on the website and a superbly peaceful resting area. Our room was excellent: big bed, sofa, armchairs, etc, plus a great view. Look out because even if you use the TV just to watch the news, it will cost you.

Room Tip: Ask to see them and make sure you ask for a view when booking. To get excellent sleep quality, open...

This is a very nice hotel made in timber. It has a marweles view up in Holmenkollhill nerby the Holmenkollen skiarena. You can se out over Oslo city and the Oslofjord. The hotel has it own Spa, with massage and training area. It has big halls for meetings or partys. This is a tradisional norwegian hotel.

Very nice location of the hotel, but it soon disapered when I entered the room. Anyway it was a very good experience, specially the staff and the food. The perfect conference hotel, a little to far from the city centre if you want to explore Oslo.

Holmenkollen Park Hotel lies half an hour outside Oslo. Or rather half an hour Above Oslo, as it lies next to the famous ski jump arena up at the top of Holmenkollen. So the hotel offers stunning views over the city, the Oslofjord and neighboring counties. A part of the hotel is an old wooden building which has been extremely well renovated, an other parts are more mundane "modern" rooms and facilities. I slept in the newest part, and had a room with a fantastic view. I'd recommend asking for that part of the hotel at a couple of hundred ironers extra.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view in the newest part of the hotel. The rooms are much more modern, and the...

I attended a 2 days meeting in this hotel and it was a very good experience.
The rooms are well kept and confortable.
The breakfast is just excellent every morning.
The whole place is cosy and the view on Oslo is beautiful.

The only "bad" surprise was the pizza on the first night... it seem the only "tomato couli" available in the kitchen was the ketchup.

Bed: 10.

Very good service from all staff. Nice environment/style/interior all over the hotel.

Wonderful breakfast, and lunch - large selection.

Had 1 spa treatment -a massage - it was average, carried out perfunctorily.
The pool is very small.

The area is wonderful, but far from the touristy things (apart from the ski jump, which is close by)
Munch museum, national Gallery, KonTiki museum, etc, one must drive or go by tram down to the city centre.

This pretty hotel is located on the hill next to Holmenkollen ski jump. And because its on the hill, you can see from your room all Oslo city and beautiful fjord ;) We really enjoy this view! It was the same nice in the morning as in the evening. In the time we have been there was part of the hotel (lobby and reception) under reconstuction. But we didnt hear any noices, so it didnt disturb us. I have to make big compliment for breakfast. It was high quality food, perfectly prepared and always fresh. I didnt see so big choice of food like here anywhere. I really appreciated many kinds of peeled or choped fruit and vegetable. And if you go there, dont forget to taste preserved rasberries with yoghurt. ;))) Room was ok, big enough and cleaned every day. Receptionist was kind and help us with everithing ;) The only thing we dont understand is hotel restaurant opened only till 10 pm. We arrived 5minute after 10pm and realised that restaurant is already close. ;( But helpfull receptionist gave us advice to go out or order food from delivery service. So we did. We ordered pizza and it really came ;)) It wasnt one of the good pizzas, but the expensiest We have ever ate ;))))) nevermind...not everything is perfect... Anyway, We recomand to visit Vikings ships museum, Kon Tiki museum and museum of arctic ship Fram. And dont forget to visit Holmenkollen ski jump. You can go with lift to the top and have the same feeling and view as a jumper ;)) and of course make more nice pictures of fjord :)
