We stayed at the Oslo Guldesmeden last week for a whirlwind trip to Oslo. I thought it was a very good find, no matter what your budget. It's important to stress the hotel is unconventional in its approach and philosophy.
I'll get what they should improve out of the way first. Some of the hotel arrangements are half-baked. For instance the bath we had was overcrowded with a ladder style towel rack where wet towels share space with toilet paper. Easy fix! There was no A/C. There's more, but the positives overtake any negatives.
The location is awesome - close to the water, train station, restaurants and national palace, just to name a few. Nice to stroll around a nice quite neighborhood to boot.
I wish the room would have been air conditioned but it was clean, quiet, comfortable and has a unique style. I slept very well.
After my most excellent sleep, we were treated by the hotel to an over-the-top fabulous breakfast. The breakfast was fresh, wholesome and unlike any other I had ever seen. And it was included!! The hotel offered fresh fruit spreads and salads, meats and cheeses and of course, scrambled eggs. I don't think my description is adequate.
ALL of the front desk could not have been nicer. Every one of them. They were knowledgeable, gracious and generous.
I would def stay there again and look forward to my next trip to Norway!More
