A very cozy hotel, lovely settings (we stayed at the bridal suite) but the breakfast is sub-par. We never expected the breakfast to serve cold foods only (well, the only hot item is the boiled eggs). I would give everything about the hotel 98% but the breakfast is only 20%. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Dear Harris T, thank you for your review, we are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. In regards to the breakfast, it does stand out compared to a more traditional hotel breakfast, and one of the reasons for this is our only-organic policy, and we have to work with the local supply available. Also, we pride ourselves on serving home-made recipes and the yoghurt, the salads, the muesli etc., is not only very good, but also freshly made and very healthy. We have prioritized these items above bacon and scrambled eggs, but will take your input into account.
Best from all of us at the Carlton Oslo.

We stayed at the Guldsmeden in late August 2012. A short walk from Aker Brygge and the city center core, it's perfectly situated. The room was very comfortable -- especially the bed -- and the staff was young, friendly and very helpful. If you're thinking of staying a few days in Oslo, this hotel is a great find!

For an expensive country this is really a great deal. Most impressive of all was the organic breakfast, which was enough to give the dreaded buffet a good name. Room was clean and spacious and staff very friendly and helpful. Oddly enough, the sister hotel in Copenhagen was very poor indeed.

Dear Julian B,

Thank you for your review, we´re so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us in Oslo. But we´re a little concerned about your comment regarding the Copenhagen sister hotel. We have 3 hotels in Copenhagen, and would very much appreciate some info about which hotel you stayed at, and why you had a bed experience there. We hope you will contact us about this, and you are welcome to write to Kirsten Aggersborg, PR & Communication manager for the Guldsmeden group, on kirsten@hotelguldsmeden.com.

This hotel was a real find - for a central Oslo location, the rates are very very good. The staff are very helpful and polite and went out of their way to help - even offering me a free coffee and cake when I'd just finished the half marathon and arrived bedraggled in the lobby.
The rooms are small but well appointed - comfy beds and the Mac instead of a TV is an interesting idea. Decor was cool, only small quibble would be the lack of a shower curtain, which is just odd and leads to unforeseen wetroom effects!
Recommended.

Very friendly staff. The entire hotel has such a laidback easy-going good karma vibe, and this include the guests. Had a nice chat with fellow guests in the sauna. Gorgeous organic breakfast and amazingly cosy rooms. Just loved the bath products. The world music song on the screen saver is just so beautiful. Forgot to ask the title. Just a pity the spa section is so small and that the steam room didn't function properly. I also suggest that the hotel staff place a small room divider at the bath tub in the spa, so that one has some privacy whilst relaxing in the tub, otherwise people walk past on the way to the sauna.
