The common area of the hotel was nice and the staff was friendly.
The "Family Room" was so small it was a joke. I've stayed in single rooms that were larger than this family room.
The worst part is that we had booked 2 rooms and when we arrived, very tired and late at night, they forgot to give us two rooms. When I told the hotel they refused to give us a refund for the second room.
Very disappointing-I would not stay there again and would warn against others staying there.

Really nice staff at the reception, fast check in / check out. Hotel is in downtown Oslo so most things to see are close, you are able to walk to most. Close to subway Station (Stortinget) and trams nearby.

Really liked the room, chose for an upgraded room for single use. Got the choice between a nice room and a quiet room and chose the nice room. This means a room near the road in front of the hotel, but liked the view and was not too noisy at all. Bathroom is okay, just a shower but did not need more. No experience with the breakfast, preferred to walk in the morning and just get a sandwich somewhere else. Norway is a very expensive country so don't look for cheap food.

This is an excellent hotel, and has a great location, and very friendly staff. The breakfast is great (plenty of cold and hot food choices). The WiFI is great, and I also liked that you could also plug into the network with a cable.

I'm not sure why the negative reviews, except in reading them, the guests expected it to be the Trump Tower hotel or the Taj Mahal. This is a Best Western, which is a value hotel (it is not trying to be like more expensive neighboring hotels... nor does it charge those room rates!) -- and it met and exceeded all of my expectations of the quality of a Best Western in Europe or the USA.

Also for the negative comments on the room size, lack of furniture, or the shower running water all over the floor etc.... I want to address these issues.

I found the size of the room very standard for European hotels -- if not larger.

For furniture, this is Scandinavia -- where the style is "minimalist." It's part of the culture. Don't expect hotels in this area to provide a lot of tables, night stands, etc.

As for the shower, nearly every one of the 10-20 northern European hotels I've stayed in have a have a shower just like this hotel. Yes, the water goes everywhere. But if you are traveling in northern Europe, get used to it. It's the standard I've seen in any hotel (without a bath tub). The shower in this hotel was just fine (although I did have to wait for the hot water to reach my 4th floor room for a while).

A great hotel situated extemely close to Karl Johans Gate at the very centre of Oslo, but far enough out to ensure peace and quiet (not that Oslo is a particularly noisy city anyway).

We stayed at Best Western Bondenheimen for a long weekend in June 2013 and were really pleased with the hotel's cleanliness, location and general atmosphere.

Whilst it's not the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in, for the price and inclusive buffet breakfast I certainly would not complain. Given how pricey things can be in Oslo, this represents great value for the time of year we visited.

The room was moderately sized and situated at the rear of the hotel, which didn't have the best view but did ensure our stay was peaceful.

The staff on reception did seem a little frosty, whilst I'm yet to decide if this is the Norwegian demeanour or not, a smile and sincerity is always appreciated.

Otherwise I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody taking a short break in Oslo on a modest budget. I'd certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Quiter at the back, but at the expense of a a good view,

The best western bondeheimen Oslo has small room and tiny bathrooms but the location is great! The breakfast is okay.. Small buffet that includes bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, fruit, bread, ham & cheese which is alright because the quality isn't the best, i recommend it if you are staying for a few days, if you wish to stay longer find another best western because the best western hotels are usually better than this

We stayed in this hotel very recently for three nights as part of a flight + hotel package by British Airways. Our choice was based on its location and our trust in the Best Western range that is usually good value for money. The location was indeed excellent, but the rest below below average. We chose not to upgrade, so our room was small, but size was not the problem. Otherwise the room's amenities were less than basic. Very narrow bed. No bedside cabinets or tables at all. We had to leave our little night necessaries ( mobile, glass of water, book) on the floor. No extra toilet roll, so we ran out of toilet paper on the first night. Just black out curtains without sheer ones, so you either went claustrophobic or getting naked in front of the opposite building's windows. Its cafe/ restaurant is an old-age self-serviced cafeteria with strange opening hours and indifferent staff who made a hell of a clatter with plates and cutlery just after 9.30 am, in order to chase you out of the place. Same staff did not show any zeal to clean the tables. To top it all: you needed your room key card in order to enter this cafe!

I stayed involuntary in this hotel due to business.
The totally exorbitant pricing of 2500 NOK (420 US $) for a double room, does not stand up to any comparison with proper hotels in Oslo. Rightfully so, Oslo is an expensive place, but when you pay 2500 NOK pr night you expect modern, clean facilities, with hot water in the shower, and a really good breakfast.

We checked, and for 1500 NOK we could have stayed in Grand Hotel. If our employer did not already pay for the room, we would have changed.

In Bondeheimen, for this price you get none of the above. And on top of that, you get a generally arrogant staff that is more interested in each other, than serving the guests.

This hotel is a shame for Oslo. One advice. Go buy a really expensive tent at Sportsnett and camp at Bogstad. Spend the rest of your money eating breakfasts at another hotel and dinners far from this hotel.

Be aware that the staff at this hotel are not likely to read Tripadvisor, and are therefore not likely to improve from criticism. So do what you can; Stay away.

Not recommended!
