“A great place for a great italian meal in Oslo”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

This place offers what I experience as original italian food with a focus on meat and fish dishes and other options beyond pasta dishes. I've experienced well composed dishes that have reveiled that they use tasty, fresh produce and have cooked everything carefully from scratch. I've got some favorites, such as their excellent calf meat on polenta, or their juicy oxtail ravioli. Their pasta of the day is always worth it; last time I had a sizzling, rich spaghetti with meatballs.
Their selection in wines is also something that makes the place worth a visit, and their desserts are a great ending to a delicious meal.
The ambience in this restaurant is bright and open, but still cosy and intimate.
Service is great; with attentive and knowledgeable waitors who always make sure you are happy and have your glasses filled up.
Absolutely worth a visit!

“Very good food, excellent wines, small and rustic atmosphere”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

The food was very good (albeit some dry venison ...) with a very authentic Italian touch to it. The selection of wines was outstanding and prices very reasonable to be norwegian, just 2x Vinmomopolets list prices. They even had a small selection of microbrewery beers for the beer aficionado. The Schous Micro Brewery cellar is close by if that was not enough. The waiters were very helpful and knew their wines very well. A little "tight" space and crowded, but cheerful and rustic.

“Authentic Italian food at a fair price”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

Trattoria Popolare is a good choice both for a quick and tasty mid week dinner and more formal occations. The food is tasty, service is good and the prices fair. Its a great place to have a beer outside when the sun is shining. Try to get a table on the ground floor which is muuch nicer (but loader) than 2 floor.

“Great authentic Italian food!”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Unquestionably the best Italian restaurant in Oslo! We've been here several times and we have never been disappointed.

The food is authentic with absolutely delicious antipasti, the oxtail ravioli tastes perfectly and the veal saltimboca is to die for. The menu is limited, but who cares when it tastes like heaven! 385 NOK for the set menu of four dishes is absolutely value for money.

Wines are priced 2,5-3 times the prices at the wine monopoly.

It there is one thing to point the finger at, it's the acoustics. Unfortunately it gets very noicy when the restaurant is crowded. And that counts for both floors.

“real italian food”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

this is a great place for rustic italian food. while most italian restaurants in oslo are heavy on the pizza and pasta, this gem offers other great courses. both indoor and outdoor service. fine dining on the second floor. casual downstairs.
