This hotel is ok - no character and rooms are a bit dated but reasonable for the price. The tram system is so easy to navigate that it doesn't matter being a 15 minute walk from the city centre.Staff were friendly and breakfast was a feast and worth the Sunday morning queue out the door. Our fridge mini bar wasn't on/working and a friendly British bar waiter sorted it out for us so our wine was cold when we returned :). The bar is really good and so are the views.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 22nd floor so our view was brilliant

The service was good, the room was nice, with a great view. The bathtub was somewhar small. Breakfast was lovely, with a plentiful selection. No particular downsides. The only minor disappointment was not being able to get late checkout due to system upgrades.

I had an overnight stay here last week on business. The room was clean as was the hotel, but somewhat dated in décor. The staff were very good and friendly and the bar lunch we had on the first day was superb. The breakfast was a little disjointed as finding a seat in the huge dining room was a challenge around 08.00. The breakfast was good but not fantastic. However, given the rates one pays in Norway I suppose all in all it was reasonable.

This hotel is a disgrace to the Radisson Blu brand. Most of it has clearly not been renovated in the last forty years and it shows in tatty furniture and unpleasant, aging carpets. With its wonderful position and views, it could be so good but for some reason the management seems to be content to offer a tired and second rate experience to first time visitors. I doubt if the return visit rate is very high. Deeply disappointing and very poor value partially rescued by staff doing their best despite their own obvious embarrassment about the condition of the rooms.

After reading some of the reviews, I was rather pleasantly surprised, when I spent 3 nights at the hotel last week as part of a business group. The staff at the reception was friendly and OK. Even though we arrived rather early we were able to get our rooms.
My room located on the 11th floor (facing north towards the famous landmark Holmenkollen Ski Arena) looked refurbished recently, and was clean and comfortable.
One thing that still amazes me with most Scandinavian hotels is the lack of coffee and tea making facilities in the room. It is a nice service, and wouldn't cost a fortune.
The breakfast buffet is probably one of the best I've ever had at a hotel, with a great selection of cooked items. A particulary nice touch was the omelet made to order in the restaurant. Beware that even though the breakfast restaurant is hughe, it was virtually full from 8.00 am, so come early on a weekday.
We went to a trade fair at Lillestrøm outside Oslo, but the hotel was really well located for public transportation by train to the fair - and the airport, using the station Nationaltheatret. There is also a bus service to Oslo airport Gardermoen from the front door. The central location is great for meetings in the City - and if you have time/would like to explore the city centre.
Remember to visit the bar on the 21st floor sometime during your stay eg. for a nightcap. The view is absolutely stunning - and the prices are actually reasonable even at a Norwegian level. :-)

I stayed at the hotel some fifteen years ago, but I trust that it will not be that long before my next visit.

Built in 1972 and not much has been invested since. Old stained carpets in small rooms with outdated design. Avarage breakfast buffet with practically no service. Plates are not cleaned from table and coffee is not offered but must be asked for. All public areas look worn and uninviting

Stayed at this hotel during a conference in Oslo, and I was very happy with the accomodation and service from the staff. The room was available even though I arrived before ten in the morning, and the staff was very helpful with providing me with a room according to my preferences. It was huge, even including a big terrace outside! Clean, no noise and the best shower ever (complete with glass doors to prevent water from spilling out onto the bathroom floor.
Excellent breakfast with very attentive staff making sure you had everything you needed. I must say this was right up there with Grand Hotel and even Rica Nidelven in Trondheim; excellent!
Conference facilities where also excellent, allthough the 400 delegates managed to crash it pretty quickly (which always happens).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a terrace if the weather is nice and you intend to spend some time at your room.
