“Great location, friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

Stayed here for a short weekend trip in Oslo. Hotel is in a great location - right by the Royal Palace, and only a short walk from Nationaltheatre station which is a great transport hub (bus, tram, metro, train) including the express train to the airport. It's a nice 15min stroll to the bars and restaurants along Aker Brygge.
The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly. However I think it is a little overpriced, as the rooms are basic, and the is breakfast quite average (the breakfast room was very hectic and noisy on Sunday morning!). But overall I did enjoy my stay.

Was here for a business trip and it was like being transported back to the 80's. My room had a aged and in most places damaged oriental themed decor. Lights not fitted to wall properly, woodwork all damaged and rough. Beds were on casters with really soft uncomfortable mattress - every time you moved during the night the bed moved! Air-con was on all the time pumping out hot air making the room unbearably hot, the temp buttons would not turn the temp down. Breakfast was in a huge hall with the food being of sub-standard compared to other Radisson Hotels I've stayed in.

Staff were not the friendliest, no conversation on check-in just took my card and practically threw my keycard at me. On check-out I was served by a different person but they treated me no different. Did not even ask if I enjoyed my stay!

Come on Radisson, if you insist on charging almost £200 for a room that is worse than a old style UK Travelodge then at least try and make up for it with friendly staff and modern and pleasant communal areas and breakfast facilities.

I've stayed here twice now and try to stay in Radisson's as often as possible as Club Carlsson is a good reward scheme.

This is one of the more 'average' Radisson's I've stayed at and the rooms (bathrooms especially) need an update. The view over Oslo is brilliant if you can get a room in the higher floors, and if you fail that, get up to the bar on the top floor to enjoy them. When you are at the bar though, be careful with the spending as it isn't cheap, although that is the usual case in hotel bars in Oslo.

Breakfast was OK, but when there on business I rarely get time to sit down and enjoy it so a buffet suits me fine!

The free WiFi is a big plus from me, it's always useful to be able to check home on FaceTime or skype. The only thing I wish the hotel would have in the rooms as standard is an ironing board, but they are seldom in the rooms of Radissons (my biggest annoyance). Also, when the iron comes, don't expect an all singing all dancing specimen... I'm sure my iPhone has an app that would work better.

We have stayed at many Raddison Blu hotels and this is one of the best.

Clean, tidy and modern - we had a very comfortable stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful with directions and other information.

There is a convenience store connected to the reception Foyer which is handy if you want to pick up a quick drink, snack or tram ticket. The tram literally runs past the back door so the hotel is very well connected if you wish to venture further than the central area (which is a short walk away). The hotel offers free wifi.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to visit the bar at the top of the hotel, but apparently this is well known for its views of the city. Go up if you get the chance.

Highly recommended.

Radisson Blu Scandinavia is my favorite hotel in Oslo. It is near the city center, equipped by comfortable rooms, helpful staff and big enough swimming pool.
It really defines my standard.

Wonderful breakfast selection!

Room Tip: Look for business class rooms with panoramatic window.

The Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel is close to the Castle and main street Karl Johan and in walking distance to the restaurant and shopping center at Aker Brygge - a famous at the sea side area. The hotel have nice rooms (ask for the renovated ones) and good service. The small restaurant close to the lobby area serves excellent food and the breakfast is included and good. This is a hotel for business and families.

Considering the fact that a can of Coke sells for $6 at convenience stores in Oslo, Radisson's price cannot be considered outrageous. There is also nothing wrong with the hotel; it's just a bit worn-down. Not much seems to have changed since the 1980's. We got a family room; the kids got to sleep in a pull-out sofa that was uncomfortable. It was also pretty cold in the room during the day. The room came with a nice balcony, which we didn't use for obvious reasons (the November weather in Oslo is no fun at all). Perhaps the balconies are cleaned during summer. Right now, however, ours was full of trash and cigarett butts. Radisson Blu Scandinavia is not a bad choice for your stay. I just doubt it anybody will be really thrilled by the experience.

Room Tip: The view from the top floors is spectacular.
