“Great Location”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

I stayed at this hotel for 2 Nights over the FIS World Cup weekend (9th-11th March 2012). The hotel staff were very welcoming and extremely efficient. Our room was lovely and even had sliding doors onto a terrace which I imagine would be fantastic in the Summer. My only complaint about the room would be that the bed was too soft for me. The bathroom was a wetroom which was perfect. Just before we left the UK we got an e-mail to say our ticket for the World Cup at the Holmenkollen Ski Jump had to be re-issued, the gentleman on reception printed this off for us straight away - great service! The Breakfasts were amazing, so much to choose from, there were cereals, hot options, cold meat and fish, fruit, raw vegetables, smoothies and yoghurts and as much coffee as you could drink!

The hotel is right next to a tram stop which took you right to the Central square by the Train station, although you could easily walk to the main areas. The Royal Palace was only 5 minutes walk away as was the station 'National Theatre' which took us straight to the Ski Jump.

Oslo is a very expencive place but we managed to get a good rate for the hotel. Without hesitation I would stay at this hotel again and despite the cost we would definately go back to Oslo.

Room Tip: Floor 3 has the terrace room - ours was 325

This is a little gem of a hotel. It is clean and tidy the staff are friendly and accommodating, the breakfast buffet is something to behold (apart from the lack of bacon!). For a city renowned for being expensive it was for us a reasonable rate. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the main city and palace and there are a lot of local restaurants ad bars within walking distance. As a party we had 4 rooms all double or twins. The hotel seems to be in the process of refurbishing rooms and 2 of the rooms had already been updated whilst the other 2 had not but even these were clean and well presented, one small gripe would be that there seemed to be a difference in tea/coffee facilities in the rooms. One had a espresso maker with coffee pods, 2 had kettles and instant tea and coffee and 1 had nothing at all.

We did not make use of the gym or pool but that also looked clean and well kept.

One thing not to miss is the 21st floor bar with a fantastic view of the city especially after dark, and whilst your up there check out the urinals in the gents toilet they are in front of a plate glass window with great views also, definitely different!

As mentioned above the breakfast buffet had a great choice, it was very busy but there were plenty of tables and a constant procession of staff making sure everything was topped up; as I also said there was distinct lack of bacon though all we found were tiny rashers on top of the fried eggs.

All in all I would gladly go back, Oslo is a great place to visit once you get over the cost of food and drink that is!!

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room - or a business class room upgrade!

This hotel is located in the heart of Oslo. The business rooms are good - new bathrooms, and generally just nice. The restaurant in the lobby is very good - however also expensive like anything else in Norway. Generally this Radisson hotel is completely at the well known Radisson standard. You know what you get. In the basement you will find an exellent fitness room with everything you would expect and a good indoor swimming pool. I have actually completely forgiven that they forgot to clean my room one day during my stay. ;o)

I stayed at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia hotel in March 2012 for 1 night.

Pros:
Fabulous view of the Oslo fjord!
Updated lobby
Wide selection for breakfast buffet
Centrally located (just a quick 5 minute walk from the National Theater and Karl Johan Gate)
Pleasant and helpful front desk staff
If using the conference rooms...they are updated and comfortable

Cons:
Price (Oslo is an expensive city but you don't really get the value for your money by staying at this hotel)
Outdated rooms (I stayed on the 20th floor and while the view of the fjord was nice, the room was tired and in major need of a renovation)
Bathrooms were tiny

Overall, while the Radisson SAS was okay, it wasn't worth the cost in my opinion. There are better alternatives (i.e. DoubleTree or Thon Hotels) where you can get the same or better rooms (in the same centrally located area) at half the price. In my mind, you are paying for the view of the fjords which you can see for free by going outside :-)

Stayed for 2 nights in February 2012 - ideal as the flybussen from the airport stops directly outside - is within walking distance of the Palace and all the main attractions i.e. Fjord where you can take a mini cruise, pier 3, National Gallery, Ice Bar, Town Hall - great varied choice for breakfast - summit bar on 24th floor ideal for a drink with a view - prices are steep, but prices generally in Norway are high.
