Owner description: A historic landmark in the Norwegian consciousness, Holmenkollen embodies more than a century of skiing tradition. Inside the actual ski jump is the Holmenkollen Ski Museum, the world's oldest ski museum. The museum presents over 4,000 years of skiing history and polar exploration artifacts. The observation deck on top of the jump tower offers panoramic views of Oslo. Open 365 days a year!

If you have ever been fascinated by ski jumping, this is the place for you. Here you get to stand on the ski hill where major international tournaments take place and see just how steep the hill actually is. And it is FREAKINGLY steep.

An additional bonus is the fantastic views over Oslo and the Oslo fjord. Dont forget your camera on this one. You will need it!

Compact museum with good info about ski-jumping history incl. the several different versions of Holmenkollen. Magnificent view from the top, weather permitting!

Well worth the trip up the hill. Seeing it up close really makes you appreciate what the athletes that have jumped there done. The simulator is worth trying. The souvenirs as everything else in Norway are very expensive.

If you have any interest in sport this is for you, excellent museum very well laid out with clear concise information about everything on display. Get the lift to top of tower to be amazed at what the jumpers face. Try out the ski simulator only lasts about 4 minutes but worth it for 60k ( very cheap by Norway standards).
Get the metro from city centre to Holmenkollen and walk to museum, quite a steep walk so not for the faint hearted.

Caught the 'T' train from Jerbanetorget station, it is Zone Fare 1, so 30NOK each way or 80NOK for a 24 hour ticket, to Holmenkollen station, a trip of about 30 minutes, then a stiff 10 walk uphill. You need high or no clouds to get uninterrupted views. You can get good views over Oslo without paying any entrance fees, but for the best views, pay the 110NOK per person. Present your Hop on Hop off bus ticket and reduce those entrance fees by 25%. I am not into skiing, but found the museum fascinating including the auditorium. Then took the lift up to the top of this structure for fabulous views over the mountainside behind or of Oslo itself, plus of course amazing views of this Olympic ski jump. This has to be the best attraction we visited in Oslo and would thoroughly recommend it.
