Owner description: A historic landmark in the Norwegian consciousness, Holmenkollen embodies more than a century of skiing tradition. Inside the actual ski jump is the Holmenkollen Ski Museum, the world's oldest ski museum. The museum presents over 4,000 years of skiing history and polar exploration artifacts. The observation deck on top of the jump tower offers panoramic views of Oslo. Open 365 days a year!

without ski jumpers? Whatever. The view is great, and the museum is OK, if you're interested in skiing.

I'm a winter sports fan and to see this famous venue up close was a thrill. I can only imagine the thrill of jumping in that huge bowl with thousands screaming!

Although this is not the original Holmenkollen, it is still very interesting and, as I say, the skiers must be very brave. The cafe at the site is good and serves delicious cake! There is also a stave church close by the carpark to vist/walk around.

We always take guest from out of town to the Holmenkollen ski jump if time allows. On a clear day it offers you a stunning view of Oslo, while at the same time letting you experience some of the lunacy that is ski jumping at a professional level. Looking down the ski jump and imagining setting off down of your own free will is not for the faint of heart... :-)
The ski museum is interesting, showing some of the Norwegian culture and history of skiing. (Note the picture of King Olav taking the subway from the city to the ski jump during the oil crisis of the 1970s)
Make sure you try the ski jump simulator after having been up to the top of he tower itself!

Holmenkollen was my first ski jump tower...and it was awesome. Respect ski jumpers. From the top of tower is beautiful view to Oslo.
