Original building made from white Italian marble can be seen on the shore of the city fjord from many places. At the top of the roof is organized observation area. You can come directly there from the street.

Well - I feel like I am cheating a bit here, as we did not go in the opera house itself, but visited the grounds and climbed up the roof. Great view from up top and it was a fun, entertaining visit.

Spell binding architecture and design!
Great use of wood, concrete, glass and textures throughout the building.
The building is open to all and you can actually experience and feel the structure inside out top to bottom - quite literally. The entry is free and you can even climb on top of it.
The guided tour is highly recommended where they even take you backstage to show the various finishing & practice areas.
If possible, please watch the opera or ballet. The main hall is a marvel and the stage is absolutely insane!!

An amazing opera house located right in the heart of Oslo. Located right on the harbor, you can walk right alongside the Opera House, or literally, walk right on the roof! Seating almost 1,500 people, this is a great place to see a performance. If you can't make it to a performance, you should still visit just to appreciate the fabulous architecture of the Opera House. Is it an opera house or a public park? You decide. Just don't miss the opportunity to enjoy the walk and see some incredible views of Oslo all around.

We started the morning by walking up the slanted edges of this building that is shaped like a glacier sliding into the harbor. The walk is fairly easy, but there are numerous angles and areas where a person could trip if not sure footed. The view of the neighboring buildings and harbor is good, but it is difficult to look straight down due to the thickness of the roof edges. There is no charge to do this, and we learned that the building’s designer had wanted to encourage visitors to walk on the roof. We later toured inside the opera house and learned about the excellent acoustics during the performances. We got to see some of the miniature set models that were created to help the builders visualize the construction and toured the costume workshop which was filled with outfits for the upcoming performances.

we visited this building outside and enjoyed the achitecture. As it was nice weather we also enjoyed fabulous views from the top. We booked an opera which gave us the oppertunity to see the beautiful lay-out inside. THere is a bar/coffee place while you wait. Wonfderful performance
