Park Inn by Radisson Oslo
Ranked #26 of 102 Hotels in Oslo
Reviewed January 12, 2014

We stayed here in December 2013 for about three nights. I don't normally chose hotels but the price was very reasonable (provided I pay in advance .... breakfast was included).
In the event, we were very satisfied. The location was really excellent... an easy walk to Central station while Stortinget underground station was only two blocks away.
The room was clean, modern and much more spacious than I expected. Surprisingly, there were lots of power sockets... so useful these days for recharging all those devices we have come to rely on (well, I have at least). The bed was very comfortable and the the window opened so the room wasn't too hot or stuffy as often is the case with European rooms in winter. There was no view to speak of, other than a brick wall! There was free WIFI but limited to one device per room only. This last issue was a little disappointing but needs to be balanced against the breakfast.
Given the price for the room was so reasonable and Oslo is so expensive, I expected breakfast to be a very modest affair. To our delight, it was just the opposite. Every imaginable breakfast offering seemed available from cereals to hot dishes to fruits to even Scandinavian herring dishes. Getting such a hearty breakfast was a real treat and saved us a lot of money by allowing us to get by on a very modest lunch. Would be happy to stay again provided I could get the same good deal.

Dear Chaucer,
Thank you for your positive comments. We truly appreciate you sharing your experience. I was thrilled to read that you enjoyed our central location and our breakfast buffet. A good, and varied breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, and at Park Inn Oslo we take this very seriously! I will be sure we celebrate the breakfast team for a job well done. Nice big spacious rooms at a fair price.
This hotel is perfectly placed for a weekend in Oslo, within walking distance of the Harbour, Train, Tram and Bus Stations.
Breakfast was cooked and continental which seems to be rare here.
Views of the street, but very quiet with only the odd Tram making any significant sound.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Oslo and want a nice, clean, central location.

This hotel was God sent during our entire stay in Oslo last July 2013. It was not directly in front of the central train station but not very far from it either. We just walked and it took us around 15 minutes the first time. After a few days stay, we found other shorter and more direct routes. My partner and I found the room clean and comfortable. We loved its huge breakfast spread. It helped get us started full and ready in the morning. I found it rather funny that many other visitors to the hotel did the same thing we did and that was overeat during breakfast to save on meal expenses during the rest of the day. In very, very expensive Oslo, this hotel was a bargain even though we still paid roughly $120 a night for it. I looked at the pictures which other travelers posted about the hotel and they are pretty accurate including the food served for breakfast. I have no problems staying here in the future should we come to Oslo once again.

We stayed in ParkInn Plaza for 2 nights in December just before New Years Eve. It is located few minutes walk from Karl Johans gate which is main street in Oslo. It is also within a short walk from the haven and other landmarks. Actually if you stay in ParkInn Plaza you have almost all important sightseeing spots within walking distance.
The hotel itself is small and quiet. The housekeeping is not a whole day service as it is in other hotels of that chain, which can be a little surprising if you leave a do not disturb note on the door and want someone to clean your room in the afternoon. Instead you find a plastic bag hanging on your rooms door. The bag contains fresh towels and toilet paper.
As we were upgraded to business thanks to our ClubCarlson Gold status we had a spacious room.
About the breakfast - as the restaurant is quite small comparing to the hotel size it is recommended to get up early, preferably before 8am so that you have quiet breakfast. At 9am it is so crowded that it is hard to find a free table and there are queues to food. The breakfast choice is very good and food is delicious.
When we are in Oslo next time we will definitely stay in ParkInn Plaza and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants decent hotel in city center.

We stayed at the Park Inn over New Year and it was a great hotel for the price - especially in a notoriously expensive Oslo.

If you are looking for a hotel in a superb location for exploring Oslo on a budget this is certainly the one for you. It is situated 2 mins from Karl Johans Gate (main street) and is on the same street as the T-Bahn (metro) to explore further afield. You are also only just over 5 mins from the Opera House and the Royal Palace which are situated at each end of Karl Johans Gate. The Harbour and Town Hall are only a 2 min walk away and the Parliament is just around the corner. It is also only a 5 min walk to the Central Station and Bus Station.

The hotel is not the most elaborate or fanciest but if you are looking for a clean, central hotel at a low cost I can assure you this is the one for you. As a young couple it suited our budget perfectly but if you are willing to spend a bit more there are certainly classier hotels but Park Inn is a clean, lovely hotel and is certainly better than its 3 star rating suggests.

The breakfast is a typical continental breakfast with a good selection of foods ranging from fruit, cereal, pastries, egg, sausage and some local Norwegian delicacies.

The only negatives are that the rooms are on the small side (still more than adequate for our needs) and that the wifi is only allowed to be used on one device per room.

All in all it is a great hotel if you looking for a clean, central hotel with a good breakfast to set you up for the day.

It takes a 15 min or more walk if you drop off from the airport train. It is in between two stations, central station and national theatre station. I tried both. Seems it is more straight forward if you get off from the central station. The hotel website said that it can be reached by airport bus. However, the airport information desk said that the bus stop is quite far away from the hotel and did not suggest this way. I think there are two key areas the hotel has to consider. There is no refrigerator in the room. If you want to buy Salmon as souvenir, then you cannot keep it in your room. Besides, the WiFi usage for the hotel guest is very mean. It said it support at most 512 kps for one device only unless you pay NOK50 per day. I booked a three person room and has to use our smartphones one by one in turn and find it is very inconvenient. In view of the popularity of free Wifi in Oslo, this limitation is not quite reasonable.

Dear Eungkk168,
Thank you so much for your honest and balanced review in regard to your recent stay with us. Your feedback and suggestions for improvement are truly appreciated and valued. I agree with you completely, that the airport express train is the fastest and most efficient way of reaching our hotel. The Park Inn is centrally located between Oslo's two main stations. Many do, however, prefer to take the airport bus to Professor Aschehougsplass, which is just a five minute stroll from our hotel. We do not have minibars in the rooms, but we do provide a full-service bar in our lobby, and are more than willing to help our guests store products that need refridgeration.

We would love to welcome you back to Oslo. If I can be of any assistance now or in the future please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

All the best,
