“Good Hotel, Great location”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

We stayed here twice, at the beginning and end of our holiday in Norway. We were able to leave our extra luggage in the hotel storage room while we were away. The hotel's location is ideal - close to the main attractions. It's on several bus routes, close to a Metro station and within walking distance of the train station if you don't have too much luggage. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The room was fairly spacious and very comfortable. We'd recommend a room on the back side of the hotel as the bus/tram noise from the street bothered us a bit in the early mornings as we like to have the window open at night. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the Oslo 24 hour card is worth it if you want to visit several museums (especially at the senior rate!).

Very friendly welcome from young man on desk who had recently been backpacking in Oz - so we felt instantly at home and that continued during our stay. Room was large and bright with pleasant side street outlook. Decor modern Scandinavian style and room quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the day we departed early they allowed us "in" to eat before the usual opening time - much appreciated! The location was great for all attractions and eateries. The Oslo 24 hour card (with very generous seniors rate) allowed us to pack in plenty with this hotel as home base. Galleries, Museums, public Buildings, the waterfront, shops, restaurants all around and the museum island a short ferry ride or bus trip from this wonderful location.

Room Tip: Side street view good - not a busy thoroughfare

This hotel is ideally located in the heart of Oslo. Its only couple of minutes walking from Karl Johans. I stayed for one night in the top floor room. The room was rather small, but clean and modern. One surpise was the small balcony with two chairs and a coffee table. Balcony was ideal place for morning coffee.

Breakfast was nice and actually better than other Park inn's I have stayed.

The only thing that bothered me, was the personnel. I did not feel welcomed and front desk lady was discussing more with other personnel than me during check in.

Due to the location this is an ideal hotel for weekend visits.

There is really nothing fancy about this place and the rooms are a small box with shower area very small - but with that said, the price is right and it is two blocks from Karl Johan, the Main Street running through downtown Oslo. The best part is the free breakfast. If you just want to walk from central station, it is only about 9 blocks.

Room Tip: 401 was very quite.

A very well located hotel, with modern interior design as all Park Inns suitable for both business and leisure travelers.
About 15 mins walk from the central station the hotel has a welcoming lobby and professional receptionists who will check you in very efficiently in a couple of minutes.
Hotel rooms are accessible by a keycard activated elevator which is an additional security element for the hotel (not so much needed in Oslo but a welcome add-on).
Free wifi in the room which also offers a nice LCD tv, a reasonably spacious workstation and (often important for business travelers) ironing board and iron. Don't look for a wardrobe or drawers for your clothes; there aren't an - only hangers which may not be sufficient if you are travelling with a partner.
A lot of external food delivery pamphlets are also available in your room should you feel peckish.
The breakfast buffet is quite rich but it closes at 10.00 am and although this is quite reasonable, for Park Inn it means that the waitresses start gathering the service utensils at exactly 10.00 am, so even if you are already there, you cannot help yourself anymore after this time!! This is a feature I only encountered in this Park Inn.
Overall, a very good hotel to stay with the standard and reassuring quality of a Rezidor hotel. What let's down is the lack of 'hospitality' from the staff. They are very efficient and professional but the 'warmth' encountered elsewhere is clearly missing here. This is perhaps a cultural element rather a weakness of the hotel but it is noticeable and affects the otherwise excellent experience.
Although the cost of living in Norway is quite high, I found the rate I paid quite expensive compared to the service I received.

My wife and I staid for one night in this hotel last year. We booked in 1,5 month advance and got a very good prepaid rate (about 100 EURO). The hotel is very central, one can go on foot to cthe central square, theatre, embankment. The room was modern. But above all expectations wse the breakfast included in the price. Different sorts of fish, very tatsty scandinavian bread

Room Tip: Book in advance on the parkinn site.

I have just returned from Oslo where I spent five nights at the Park Inn... What a great place! In a city which is outrageously expensive in almost every way, this is an oasis of sense and proportion. There is nothing I can find to say that is negative... Maybe the only thing would be that my room overlooked the rear courtyard of the hotel, but the room itself was spacious and comfortable..

The best thing? Breakfast! The Park Inn could show a few other, much more expensive, places how to do breakfast well!

Would I go back? Tomorrow if I could! Oslo is a beautiful city, and the Park Inn is so centrally located that everything in the centre you would want to see is a matter of minutes away...
