“Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2012

I recently stayed at the Park Inn, Oslo for a weekend getaway.

The hotel is really new so everything is in great working order. The staff were friendly but very busy running around. it almost seemed as id they were understaffed or something. this is was really noticeable in the restaurant for breakfast.

There was no host so guests just walk in and sit themselves. this is totally fine, but when you have a small restaurant and not enough seats to fit all the guests, problems arise. i found myself having to often share a table with other guests. the staff were running all over trying to cope with the workload or clearing tables and replenishing the buffet.

The rooms were fantastic. i was on the 6th floor facing the front of the hotel and i could hear the tram noise so i could only imagine if you had a room on a lower floor, this would be quite annoying if you were a light sleeper maybe but nothing too huge i guess. I was allocated an Accessible room which was fine as it was more spacious, but for those who like to have a bath tub, this wouldn't be for you, typically for a park inn, there was no mini bar or fridge. The air conditioning i don't think really works either, it didn't seem to make a difference no matter which setting you put it on.

Overall i did have a great stay but i feel like the staff were too stressed and perhaps overworked? which showed mainly through eating breakfast each morning.

I will for sure however be choosing this hotel to stay when I'm back in Oslo as i think overall it is great value for money and the rooms are very new and nice.

Room Tip: 603 was very spacious, but with no bathtub

Inviting, bright and modern rooms with great, comfortable beds.
Located in the city center, everything easily to reach on foot
Breakfast offers a great selection of fresh and high quality food, everything according to continential standard and additional some norwegian stuff (brown cheese, fish)
Good service and friendly staff with good language skills

No free parking space! (parking is very expensive in Oslo)

The entirety of Oslo is within easy walking distance, but the Park Inn location definitely enhanced our three day/two night visit. Room was standard double, more than adequate size-wise, with room for a table and chairs in addition to the sleeping space. Everything was clean and tidy, there is a small kettle and a few Twinings tea bags in the room. No bath but shower pressure and temperature was fine. Breakfast very generous with hot foods like scrambled eggs to go along with the standard pastries, bread, cold meats, cheeses. Easy walk from the main train station at the start and to the ferry terminal at the finish of our stay.

Room Tip: Our room faced a fire-escape and was dead quiet.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting our son. Location is great within walking distance of bus and train station and the tourist office just outside the door of station will give you directions 10mins walk. It is centrally situated which is great for walking around the city.
Staff are friendly and very helpful. Hotel room was spotless with tea and coffee tray and decent size bathroom with walkin shower. Bed was very comfortable and room was plenty warm as it was bitterly cold outside. Breakfast is buffet with an excellent choice I loved the warm bread in the morning. The best thing at breakfast was the tea although made with a teabag in a mug the water was boiling and it was THE BEST cuppa we have ever had in a hotel for breakfast. Overall it was excellent value for money and a brilliant htel to stay in as everything else is SO expensive in Oslo

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in a standard double room. We arrived early in the afternoon and everything went smoothly with the check-in. Nice and helpful guy at the reception.
The room was clean, decent sized and had everything we needed, including a safe. Comfortable beds. Free Wi-Fi in the room. Nice bathroom but the shower didn't have a door which was a bit strange, so after showering the bathroom floor was all wet. The sliding door to the bathroom didn't close all the way, which didn't really matter to us, but it's something to think about if you're traveling with someone you're not that close with...
Great location. All the major sights are within walking distance. Metro stop Stortinget is just up the street if you need to get to places further away.
One bad thing was the lack of (cheap) parking. You can park outside the hotel for free for 10 mins while checking in. If you're lucky you might find a space on the street but parking is limited to 2hrs Mon-Fri 9am-6pm and Sat 9am-3pm. During the rest of the time I think it's free and unlimited. There's a parking garage a couple of blocks away (Q-park Bankplassen) which costs 360 NOK/day or 20 NOK for 24 mins (Expensive...like everything else in Oslo...)
We loved the breakfast! It was a good start to our day.
Next time we're in Oslo we'd definitely stay here again.

3 of us stayed for 1 night in March. We managed to get a standard room which had 3 small single beds. Given that Oslo is an expensive city I was pleased we only had to pay for 1 room, we also got a discount for booking/ paying 3 weeks in advance.

The hotel felt modern and clean. The room wasn't big, but we were only there to sleep. There was an in-room safe and free in-room wifi.

The bathroom in the room was very nice, but the sliding door to it didn't provide a huge amount of privacy (so maybe not best if you don't know the people you're staying with very well). The breakfast was very good, lots of choice and you don't have to check out until 12, which meant we didn't feel short of time in the morning.

The only major problem was the lack of parking - we had to park in an overnight car park which cost around £40 for 24hours (as I said, Oslo is super expensive) so factor that in or make sure you have an alternative parking spot figured out if you're arriving by car.

A group of us stayed here for 3 nights in March on a business visit. Very convenient, easy access to public transport and to cultural centres. Clean, comfortable, it suited our needs very well. Minor problems with wifi were the only reason I didnt give the hotel an 'excellent' rating, but I'd certainly come back again.
