“Oro - Gold no more”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2013

Ate several times at Oro early 2013. Excellent food then. Deliceous spicy mussles and other goodies.
Not a shadow left of that. Starter - Tasteless king-size mussels with a non-descript dip-sauze.
Main - Catch of the day. Poorest chewy glazy fish ever tasted. Out in 40 minutes.
What a mess. What a pity!

“Rich food, good wine”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

The lobster soup is too rich! Shouldn't be that rich! Almost too rich for an appetizer, good idea and concept but bad execution. The white fish dinner was good, and cooked well. The wine list and champagne was good. Service was ok, had a hard time speaking English here, and the chairs were very small, my husband looked like a fat guy in a little chair. It was very busy but overall, just ok- much better places to eat in oslo!

“Excellent food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

A group of three friends had a very pleasant dinner at Oro. Very prompt and courteous service. Two of us had the scallop appetizer (small serving but excellent) and a wonderfully prepared cod, and one of us the lamb special. We were all very pleased.

Food prices are very high in Oslo, largely because of labor costs and taxes - which isn't the restaurant's fault in setting prices. Comparatively, Oro is more reasonable with the same high standard of food and service. The setting is casual.

Highly recommended.

“Disappointing, all over! Keep out!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

One waiter smelled sweat. Really disturbing strong smell! The other waiter had probably her first day at work....no water, no idea of the meny, back and forth....3 course menu. The first should have been fois gras, did not taste like it and totally boring. Second was 3 fish and one chicken. Just chicken, no vegetables, just on "a bed of" groats? The fish x 3 was raw! They had to go back to the kitchen. When they came back, it was with another fish on mashed potatoes. Simple and ok. fish. Desert was nice. No one asked if we wanted coffee. Been here several times before. This restaurant is struggling with the total package. Don't leave your money here.

“Disappointing, empty and incredibly expensive”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

This is a restaurant that is not even close in terms of decor expected of a fine dining restaurant. The floor has cold, grimy looking tiles and decor in general leaves much to be desired...
There is an exhibition kitchen where the chefs beaver away, but it is elevated and far away from the diners so does not really serve it's purpose.
When we visited on a Friday night the room had two or three other tables of diners and was otherwise empty. We were given an oversized round table (for 5) between the three of us, seated side by side which was almost comical.
The food was of high quality and reasonably good and the wine selections were good accompaniments so no major quibbles except for the high price of everything.
Staff very friendly and obliging, but sadly the decor of this place and the emptiness made it feel to me like a restaurant on the way out.....the experience certainly did not justify the very high price for three of us.
