We stayed here as part of our trip to Scandinavia , staying at the relatively new Saga Hotel Apartments, which is a self contained block of Studio and 2 bedroom apartments . These were acquired by the hotel in 2014 and have been fully refurbished , and it shows, with boutique type decor, new luxury bathrooms, and kitchens fitted . Very comfortable beds too.

It is an easy 2 min walk to the hotel if you need to go to their restaurant for Breakfast (100 Kr p person) , plus they have a membership of the Fresh Fitness Gym a 5-6 min walk away from the apartments , which was very handy, its a great gym.

These apartments are really close to one of the main shopping streets, and a 30 min walk to the harbour, or of course there are trams etc you can catch but we like the walks.

Oslo is a pretty expensive place to eat and drink, but the hotels are not too badly priced really.

We would recommend this accommodation, the only slight issue was the whole building was very warm (no heating was on) so we had to open all windows plus the balcony door, although we closed that at night - although Oslo has low crime rate , backed up by the number of windows at ground level we saw open on our late evening walks.

Also worth mentioning this is on a residential street, so with windows open you do get the sounds of the city, but it was not too noisy.

The room was also quite a bit cheaper than rooms in the hotel and were perfect for our needs.

Also Parking at the apartments was on site and so free. Not sure if the hotel itself has parking though....

Room tip: Higher rooms are probably best .

The Saga Hotel Oslo is a great find - we stayed in the apartments and ours was lovely, great location and with a nice little balcony. The restaurant St Raw was amazing - I understand it is about to undergo a rebrand, but the team running it were lovely and the food was incredible. A great location and we will definitely be returning.

A beautifully decorated apartment with a terrace, efficient kitchen, comfortable bed, and fantastic location. We were really please and could have stayed much longer than just a weekend! I highly recommend it. We also ate breakfast at the hotel and the food was wonderful. Great stay!

I booked an apartment because it can be challenging to find plant based meals in Norway. Thinking the convenience of an apartment would give us opportunity to make meals, and since we can't eat a lot at the hotel breakfast buffet, it doesn't make sense to pay 100 Krone. However, when we arrived and found the apartment did not have AC, nor amenities afforded to guest at the hotel(reception service, common area with niceties) we quickly changed our minds. We spent one night at the apartment, and we're glad they could accommodate us at the hotel for the next two nights of our stay. We paid more for the hotel room and it was worth it. We had espresso in the lobby, drinks at the bar, chatted up with reception and ate what we could at the breakfast buffet.

Saga Apartment -(no pictures)
Apt 7007(7 floors total)
Overlooked other apartments
Balcony had sliver of a view of the harbor
No AC
No dishwashing soap, paper towels, napkins, tissues(would of had to buy more products to really cook and wash dishes)
One tea towel to dry dishes
No privacy curtains(couldn't open curtains without being seen)
No hospitality provided
Self serve laundry room, worked well
Tiny, compact bathroom. Could place toiletries on shelves in the living room, near full length mirror. Water flowed out of the tiny shower.

Saga Hotel-(pictures provided)
Room 310(4 floors total)
Street noise from cars/trams
Tall ceilings
Privacy curtains(could open curtains without being seen by neighbors)
Tissues, refrigerator, iron/board
Robes
Bar downstairs
Coffee maker in room
Washcloths
No noise from hall or adjoining rooms
Near elevator
Compact bathroom, with room around toilet. Tight fit between shower and sink. Minimal place to put toiletries, no where to hang hand towel
Best tram stop was about a 5-6 min walk
Not the most convenient location to most sites.
Liked being in a neighborhood, but missed convenience of getting places easily.

Dear Diana.
Thank you so much for taking your time to evaluate our performance during your stay.
I am glad to see that we were able to accommodate you in the hotel, and that we thereby had the possibility to fulfill your needs and expectations.
There are some differences in staying in apartment and hotel rooms. Apartments are set up for the client to me more independent, and it is not common practice to offer all the same small amenities as you can expect from a regular hotel room. It is supposed to more of a “home away from home”.
This is also one of the reasons why have the possibility to sell our apartments for a little cheaper price than the hotel rooms.

I do look forward to welcome you again in the future, and I am glad to see that you appreciated our charming little boutique hotel this much. Thank you again.

Yours truly,
Ronny Wilhelm

We stayed in the apartments. Great choice! Everything we wanted was within walking distance...grocery stores, shops, cafes, restaurants, buses, etc. Very comfotable. Let's you sort of live like a Norwegian!
