“Nice and easy”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

Booked this hotel due to the price and distance towards the train station (the shortest way is to walking through the Folkteatret galleria).

The rooms are small (reflecting the word "Xpress") but cosy with red-white color scheme with updated furnitures.

Its close to Youngstorget and Brugata, which are lively at nights.

We stayed 5 nights in a twin room on one of the lower floors of this hotel. The rooms at this level are rather odd, as one side of the hotel is built within the shell of an older building, so the windows of our room looked into the gutted interior of another structure. This meant that the windows were sealed, and this was the only real area that let this otherwise good hotel down as it meant the room was far too warm. There is no air conditioning and the ventilation system, despite setting it as low as possible, kept the room at a constant 21 degrees which was stuffy for sleeping. Unfortunately, at the time there were no other rooms available with opening windows though these should be cooler. On a positive note, it has to be said that the peculiar structure of the room we stayed in meant that it was completely silent, absolutely no sound from the city got through and it was without doubt the quietest city hotel I've ever stayed in.
Apart from the temperature the room was a good size, clean and functional, and the bathroom also clean and reasonably roomy. The lack of room servicing wasn't a problem, it's not that hard to tidy up after yourself - fresh towels would have been nice, but the ones we had dried very quickly in the warm, dry air.
The staff were efficient and friendly. There is also free tea and coffee available 24hrs per day in reception, as well as a variety of food items for purchase. The hotel has a laundry with washers and dryers available for guest use.
The location is very central, making walking around the city a great option, and for more distant locations buses and trains are very close by.
For such a good location this hotel is excellent value.

Room Tip: If you do not sleep well in a warm environment, ask for a room with opening windows.

Yes, the location is perfect, very close to everything but the cleaning lady should come more often, we were there for 3 nights and we never saw her we don't mind not changing the towels for 3 night as we all care for the Planet Earth but the garbage....not thinking about this..it was perfect

The hotel itself and the staff is very good. Was in there for 3 nights all very close including the museums, harbour, shops, restaurants. But was disappointed as was advised at checkin that they do room cleaning service only every 4 days. This need to be reviewed as the value paid for expect at least a daily room cleaning service...
Plus there is a disgusting mark of glue I think in the bedroom floor.
Good thing here is at least the have a gym, a free laundry room but you need to buy your own washing powder of course.

Room Tip: If you not too picky and have an average budget I would recommend this as it is really very convenie...

Very clean, functional and friendly hotel. Room sizes are small but not too small. Friendly help given at checkin and when problem with shower was found the staff were eager to help. It's a handy location, about 5 mins walk to the railway station and very handy to the waterfront. Recommended.

We stayed for 1 night in Oslo, a very low rate compared to any other hotels. We had a 10min. walk to the central train station. The staff was very helpful in providing directions and they seemed genuinely happy that we were staying at their hotel. The rooms were clean and modern, beds very comfortable. The bathroom was large for a European hotel and the fixtures worked properly. It would be nice if they could offer a warm breakfast, but they do have free coffee/tea 24/7 and some snack items that can be purchased in the lobby. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here with a friend in January and was really happy with this hotel. While not right in the centre it's only a five-ten minute walk to the train station, shops and all local sights. The hotel has a very self service vibe to it and while the staff where not in the habit of approaching me they where very friendly amd helpful when approached with any queries. It's definitely a hotel geared towards the youth market the design is very modern and stylish. The rooms while a little small are a perfect example of Scandanavian efficiency, compact but well laid out with free wi-fi and up to date technology. The room was spotless as was the rest of the hotel. The area it's in is a little rough around the edges looking and seems to be in a part of town with a large immigrant population. It does seem a little dicey but the hotel it's safe is ultra secure with keys needed for hotel and lift access and we had no problems. Only downside is the beds are very narrow with thin (about a sixth of uk sized) almost camp like mattresses which are definitely not very comfertable, okay for a young group staying a few days but anyone with back issues or not suited to sleeping in a very narrow skinny Minny type space would be best to avoid. I would definitely stay here again, but wouldn't look forward to sleeping in the teeny beds!

Hello!
Having made you happy with your choice of hotel really makes us happy. Our location tight next to Youngstorget is known for its many bars and restaurants along with different music venues. We really hope you enjoyed your visit to Oslo.

European twin rooms: not the same as in US and Canada, we know. Twin beds here are two single beds 90x200 cm. Only a few of our rooms are twin, the rest are double/queen size (150/160x200 cm). On your next visit (which we hope is soon), make sure you book/ask for a double room in stead of a twin.

Hope you’re having a great day!
