“Wonderful walks and ski tours!”
Review of Nordmarka

Nordmarka

Fascinating in both summer and winter. The trails are well marked - you will find lakes and views (maybe even an elg!). There are cafes, overnight stops and seasonal chances to pick berries and mushrooms in this huge forest which is still wonderfully protected by the old Løvenskjold family.

Nordmarka is the recreation area both for summer and winter for visitors and the locals. here you can walk, go biking or run on paths or roads (no cars).
it is wild and non wild at the same time.

Nordmarka is, in addition to the Oslofjord, why we who live here love Oslo so much and regard is as the best place to live. In Nordmarka people find peace in mind - and a playground for any kind of excercise, all year round. Take the tram to Sognsvann or Frognerseteren and explore - there will be pathsays for as long as you like to wander in the woods. Be sure to reach one of the places where you can get coffee and waffles. You'll be sure to meet nice and friendly Norwegians on your way.

We drove from Oslo to Nordmarka for afternoon swim and stroll. It was the middle of summer and the water was refreshing to say the least. It's a nice area to check out, especially if you love the outdoors. Many people like to hike and go for runs around the park - it is huge. Lots of locals were also enjoying picnics when we were there. A lovely spot to visit and so close to the city centre.

This enormous area of forest is brilliant. Incredibly well signposted and well maintained bridleways and smaller paths. Skitracks in the winter. Highly recommend it.
