“Feels like home”

Old, charming building. The rooms are not very modern, but nice and clean. The view is FANTASTIC, and the breakfast very good.

This hotel attracts friendly guests, and it seems the name AMI (friend) suite the place very well.

We had room 32, with a fabulous view over the city and Kongsparken. There are stairs to climb, so I would not recommend this hotel to users of wheelchairs or other with walking difficulties.

We truly felt like home, and will surely use this hotel later as well :)

I feel that everything in Tromso is expensive.. stayed in this hotel for 3 days but the price I have also felt that is expensive (NOK2,730).
But this hotel will let you feel that you are stayed in a Tromso citizen's house.
Breakfast is limited and need to be improve. In addition, the pillow is a bit too soft and less of cotton. Its let me have the difficult sleeping time in Tromso :( I hope this will be improve.

Also, please be ensure that you have a proper communication / arrangement with the hotel staff before arriving. I have discovered that the hotel staff have done some mistake on my booking date when my email corresponding with them. You need need to get a special passcode in the email if you reach the hotel afer 3pm.

I stayed here for one night only. Even though it was quite busy in Tromsö I was able to get a room for a good price. My single bedroom (without bathroom) was clean and tidy. In the kitchen is all the stuff you need to make yourself some dinner and in the morning a great breakfast is made by the hostess

We stayed here for a week In February. The AMI is in a great location near the town centre. For Norway it offered good value for money. The rooms are small but comfortable. The shared facilities (shower, kitchen) worked well, but became a bit congested at busy times. We had a great time north of the artic circle. If we ever return to Tromso , we will check out AMI again.

Great location just up the hill from Tromso city centre, within walking distance of everything. The hotel is set up somewhere between a hostel and backpacker's lodge, i.e. a kitchen available for use and a common area by reception to socialise and plan excursions. The reception area/lounge is very cosy and feels like an alpine lodge. Breakfast was fine - not the biggest spread but it is a budget hotel and there was plenty to start your day.

The room was clean and comfortable and if you're lucky enough to get one at the front of the house you'd have a great view across Tromso. I would recommend asking for extra pillows - the one provided was pretty thin. Also the staff were very helpful - the front desk is only manned until 3pm but they were happy to let us use the bag storage room however long we wanted after we'd checked out.

We only stayed here for one night but would definitely recommend - the staff have a great knowledge of local amenities and activities and it's one of the best hotels for budget in Tromso.

Room Tip: Ask for more pillows. Walk around, not through, the park when it's snowy. The park steps are sl...

We arrived in February 2014 at AMI HOTEL in Tromso. The hotel/bed&breakfast has a great atmosphere. It is fully equiped for the adventurous traveller.

It's situated in the city centre and on walking distance of all the main attractions.

Their kitchen is fully equiped and to available to use all day long. They even have vacuum flasks which you can use if your planning a hike or northern light chase. The rooms are fine but it's the athmosphere the hotel breathes which makes it excellent.

There's a perfect wifi connection and on top of that they also have a desktop with printer, both free of use.

The bed and breakfast also has a parking lot which is quite convenient when you rent a car for multiple days.

If you don't have high standards and your looking for a friendly and cosy atmosphere I would certainly recommend this bed and breakfast.

Sincerely,

Terry de Lange
