Very relaxed restaurant, we sat upstairs, cozy and walls filled with old books. The staff were super friendly. Menu is small with a few mains, but the food is great. We were surprised how tender the reindeer steak was.

Ate here on our second night. Small but tasty menu and we were lucky to be accommodated as a walk in. Enjoyed smoked whale and oxtail tacos to start and reindeer, steak and halibut for main. Really lovely food and great staff. Local gin and tonic was good too. Would return.

Bardus came highly recommended based on the reviews on this site, and we weren’t disappointed. We loved the unique flavours of our shellfish soup with halibut, our reindeer steak sandwich with liver pate, as well as our smoked whale salad (especially liked the combo with chevre and almonds). We also found out from our lovely waitress that Norway imposed a quota on how many whales can be hunted (a total of 1000 per year),which did put us (slightly) at ease about our choice of trying a local delicacy and still being as environmentally conscious as possible. Would more than recommend this resto for anyone visiting Tromso & on the look-out for a cozy place with authentic, flavourful local food & a super friendly staff:).

I enjoyed the steamed halibut - one of four or five main courses on the menu. It was absolutely delicate - both for the eyes and the palate! It is a nice little place - unprententious with a high culinary standard. Don’t miss it if you come to Tromsø!
