We didn't have reservations, although they are recommended. We were just walking around Tromso, in the snow, in the evening having a good ol' time when we got hungry. Snow and walking in it will do that to you. So, after walking past a bunch of restaurants near the waterfront, we all could agree on the Biffhuset. It had something on the menu for everyone. (I travel with non-adventurous, limited eaters.)
Going into the restaurant, we were asked if we had reservations. No... But, they were very accommodating and said that since it was kind of early (6:00 ish) that there was a table that was reserved for a little over an hour from then, and we could have it! Yeah!
I had the ribs, while my friends had the steak. The ribs were good, had a nice sauce on them, but not smothered, so the beefy flavor came through. There was a good portion, well cooked, tender and moist.
My friend's raved about their steaks... it was practically tender enough to cut with their forks, juicy, well seasoned. They talked about them for a couple of days, actually.
The wait staff were friendly, attentive, but not helicopters. They seemed to sense when we needed something, when it was time to clear, when to bring the bill. We didn't have to look around to get their attention, they were there when they were needed. Good job.
We were able to have a leisurely, dinner without feeling rushed and were fed and gone before the people with the reservations arrive.
We will definitely eat here again when we are in the area.
