Owner description: Tromso Kunstforening - TKF is organized in the tradition of the German Kunstverein and has been in continuous existence since 1924 and is one of Tromso's oldest cultural institutions. Over the years,TKF has changed from being run by volunteers and amateur arts enthusiasts to become a modern and professional institution. Tromso Kunstforening - TKF has a position as a core exhibiting locality for contemporary art in northern Norway. We have an established tradition of emphasizing newer and experimental contemporary art in our programing. In exhibitions and projects we work with an international perspective but also with a focus on artists and on themes relating to our region. We place considerable emphasis on creating reflection and discussion around art. For this reason we arrange regular seminars, artist talks and other events, which give the public knowledge and access to today's contemporary art.

“Don't waste your time.”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

The exhibition I saw was boring as hell. Two of the rooms were doing video displays of the process of harvesting olives. I was bored out of my mind why would someone allow an artist displays such boring video over and over again.

There is a small library section on contemporary magazines and books. If you have time to kill, this is a good place to read.

“Big space, small exhibition, but some interesting pieces”
Reviewed December 18, 2013

I don't really understand contemporary art, perhaps the enormous space on the ground floor is part of the exhibit, but it seems like an opportunity wasted to me, with just a handful of pictures. 2nd floor has a lot more to look at, with some really big canvases with interesting subjects and worth spending some time on. Not bad for free entry.
