Owner description: An Arctic-themed experience centre with the films In the Land of the Northern Lights and Spitsbergen - Arctic Wildeness on five screens, an arctic walkway, arctic themed exhibitions and aquariums of fish and bearded seals from Spitsbergen. Open 365 days a year.

I loved the building, but was left cold after visiting the aquarium and the live seal show. It felt cruel watching these beautiful creatures cooped up in a little pool and made to perform for the audence for treats. We left halfway through the programme. The kids who were there seemed to enjoy it - but it wasnt for us.

All of the exhibits at Polaria are top tier. From the five screen movies that show nearly 200° of filming and allow you to experience the Northern Lights out if season, to the shorter videos describing polar ice formations, animals and the impact of humans, to the amazing aquarium displays of arctic sea life, to the bearded and harbour seals who are a treat to watch being trained.

The museum is set up as somewhat of a labyrinth so make sure you double back and check out everything possible as their are aquariums, movies, and boat driving simulators hidden all over.

Aside from the natural beauty this is the best attraction in Tromso.

Many things to learn about arctic ecosystems, its issues. I loved the aquarium and the films about Svalbard and Northern lights.

The value and the range, the details provided that were relevant to the Arctic and the research that was being undertaken. I learnt a lot more about how poisons are transported into the Arctic and where they end up in the food chain. The films were both so lively that I felt giddy sitting still. The service was exceptional too, in buying a mug, I was given a demonstration of three , of course I bought one. I was hesitant as I wanted to use my time effectively, this was well worth it.
