Well worth the walk in heavy snow to get here. Got some great shots of the surrounds whilst on route and really enjoyed the movies and the seals and trainers in action. Defi Italy worth seeing when in Tromsoe.

The iconic design of the museum stands out from afar as a tumbled set of white dominos. Inside there is a great aquarium, full of well displayed tanks with excellent fish and sea life, plus the seal pool which one can see through windows, or in a glass tunnel or from above. The Svalbard panoramic film was stunning on 5 screens

The building is very special, make sure you are going to see that. Inside the building is a large souvenir shop. There are no lockers for bags or jackets (but I asked nicely and they put my heavy bag behind closed doors). There are about four seals, two big ones and two small ones. Go and see the seals when they are going to feed them (and make them do tricks). It's funny.. There's a panoramic cinema. There are other animals but nothing too special. It's a pretty small aquarium. Maybe an hour is enough. Child friendly.

Make sure you catch the movies that they show here, one on Svalbard, and one on the Northern Lights. There are a little cheesy but really stunning. The rest of the aquarium is mostly focused on making people realise what amazing fauna the arctic holds and how much it is all threatened. We went before heading off to the airport, it was a fantastic way of killing time :)

Located in the city center, in a building with an unique architecture, Polaria offers a glimpse into the arctic marine life. There are a few exhibitions, playground for children, interesting fish tanks, a short film about the Northern Lights and a seal tank which is the main attraction. There are 2 seal feeding and training shows each day and I recommend to plan your visit so that you catch this. It is very entertaining for all ages. You can check the official website for the exact hours.
The seal tank can be viewed from below and from the sides as well.
The gift shop is also worth a visit.
