“Aquarium and Neat Sea Info about Norway”

Small and easy to get around. Be sure you go when the seals are being fed--twice a day. Good exhibits, good 15 minute movie, walk around with fish exhibits, etc.

“Good place with an arctic focus”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

Not the biggest "ocean theme" place I've been to, but very interesting. A pool with seals swimming above your head or just in front of you, crabs and other arctic creatures of the sea.

Also see the two movies in the cinema about Svalbard and the north light / aurora borealis, they are great.

For a group of grown-ups it was very interesting, but I think it would be a short stay if the kids were along with us.

“Ok aquarium”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

We went there as part of a Cunard guided tour; no complaints of the guide herself but unfortunately due to time constraints we were unable to see the seals at feeding time. In any event the seals were housed in quite a small outdated compound. The fish themselves were displayed in tanks which overran the visitors. The "arctic walk" was satisfactory if a little underwhelming and the Cinerama type film presentation was reminiscent of one seen at the North Cape. All in all more suited to children/grandchildren rather than adults.

“The polar experience in Tromso”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013

Modern and contemporary exhibition of the days gone in the Arctic. See live seals and strange fishes, top for the youngsters. A small but acceptable coffe shop. So when in Tromso you know what to do.

“Good, but not brilliant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

We enjoyed the introductory film, but it was about Svalbard, which wasn't on our itinerary (bit odd, as we booked through Cunard who we were cruising with). A room with a stuffed polar bear and pretend ice, some fake 'icy tundra' to walk on (quite cool), and an aquarium. 3 funny seals (little time to spend watching them) and a whizz through a 'Sea Life Centre-type-place'. I'd have liked longer in the gift shop, or looking at the preserved ship outside, but we were hurrying along to the Husky Centre (a bit like a privately funded RSPCA). Wish I'd walked over the bridge instead to the cathedral. Hey-ho. Probably better if you have time and are not with a large group of people....
