Learn more about the events of Northern Lights, the archaeological findings. What fascinated me was the Sami people, their culture and history. A little of the understanding of the Norseman/Viking culture.

A great museum with a good mix of areas of expertise. The area of study that strikes me the best was about the Sami people. Very thoroughly set up and very informative.

June 13- Tromso- Tromso is set on 3 islands. It is the largest city in Northern Norway. They also have the most northern brewery in the world! They also have the northernmost Botanical garden and university. In fact 37,000 of the 50,000 residents work for the university or the university hospital. In the 50s and sunny today, so a very nice day. We had a short excursion today, visiting the Tromso Museum, the Arctic Cathedral, which is a Lutheran church, an a tram to the top of the mountain. Poor planning reared its ugly head again as every tour seemed to converge on the tram at the same time. Eight bus loads of tourists and only two trams that held 27 passengers. We were standing in line to go up the mountain at the time we were supposed to be meeting to come back down. We were still on the mountain at the time we were scheduled to be back at the ship.

Plenty to see here and on a miserable day in Tromso a good place to visit. Lots of info and exhibits. Unfortunately due to time constraints we didn’t get to see as much as we would have liked
Worth a visit

The museum is just a short walk from downtown. It's at the bottom of the island on part of the university campus. The museum has science and nature exhibi9ts that are fun for kids, some stuff on Samis, and a rotating gallery. It's small, quite small, but fun for adults and def. for kids. The area is much prettier than downtown Tromso. There are trees in a nearby park and yu can get good views of the water. The staff are very nice.
