“Unfortunately a bad experience...”
Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

We read all the reviews on gunner, but we're really unimpressed. He was not personable to our group, and spent most of the time on his cell phone. I understand it's not a guarantee to see the northern lights, but based on the below we thought it would be an experience, with a fire and hot drink etc. instead we spent 6 hours in the car, barely got the warm drink, and only spent about 10 min outside the car. It was horrible.
I recommend to gunner to make it more of an experience for your guests even if they don't see the northern lights. We are all spending a lot of money and don't want to just sit in the car for 6 hours and get nothing out of it. We had our camera, warm clothes and tripod and didn't use any of it. Huge disappointment

Sorry gunner- wanted to leave a better review, but need to be honest that the overall experience wasn't good. I'm sure if you see the lights it's great no matter what, but if you don't then you need to help make it more of an experience.

Hello Abby.

I am sorry to hear that you was not happy with the tour with me, but that was probably one of the few "bad nights on work".

Can you please tell me which date this was, so I easier can look into what I did wrong.

About using cell phone, is something we do a lot especially when the weather are bad, and we keeping contact with all colleagues and another contacts about the weather in all different locations.

And yes, sometimes, we also feels it can be to much, so I will keep that in mind.

I will also think more about that you wrote about to long time in the bus, and "next" time I will to the end stop, make fire, so my guests can at least join the Arctic snowy winter and the landscape.

But, people are so different, and some want that we do all the best to find clear sky, so stopping in a snowstorm for make a fire, that sounds strange for many…

Constructive feedbacks makes us better, so I just want to say thank you again, because to few are just doing what you did; Talk up when we have done a bad job!

Kind regards, Gunnar Hildonen.

Guide Gunnar is an amazing man.Forget about a needle in Haystack, he can find the Aurora Borealis in a blizzard. We had the most awsome experience,Blizzard on one side, roaring fire with hot soupa and a big hole in the sky with Natures own light show.Gunnar I am going to come back! Thanks for that evening and camera tips. You are awesome man:-). An we saw a herd of Moose to boot.Couldnt be better. If you go to Tromso to see the lights, only go to Guide Gunnar

“Northern Lights? Gunnar's your man ”
Reviewed November 22, 2013 via mobile

If there's a chance of seeing the lights on the night you go out with Guide Gunnar he will do whatever he can to ensure you find them. Meet in town at a central location and settle back as he drives and drives in search of clear sky and activity. We ended up at the top of a ski resort a good couple of hours from Tromso. Sure enough clear skies and a NL display. Cold weather gear and hot drinks were provided. Gunnar has an awesome camera and was happy to take some shots of us all which he emailed a few days later. You WILL need a decent camera to capture them. On the way back we stopped after seeing some more activity and Gunnar was happy to stay out with us while it lasted. Eventually got back to the hotel around 03.30. A little more expensive than some other tours but felt it was worth the money. Thanks Gunnar!

“A great evening.”

If you have not searched for the lights before it is worth forking out the money for Gunnar. He really does try to provide a good experience and his enthusiasm is genuine and infectious. The dinner option was great and his photographic advice is excellent. Satisfied customers!

“Fabulous local knowledge just what you need.”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Look, you've come all this way to see the lights, and lets face it, it may or may not happen while you're here. However, if you invest some money and go out with Gunnar he will do his UTMOST to defy the weather and take you to wherever you can be to maximise your chances. He's well equipped and well informed (and humorous) and will do whatever he can to make your dream come true. He's enthusiastic and understands what a unique experience this is for you ( despite the fact he's seen the lights a zillion times). He'll drive all night and never sounds or looks like it's any kind of effort for him. For him, it's not just another day at the office. If the lights are out there, he'll find them for you if it's humanly possible. A very enthusiastic and energetic guy.
