We booked skippered trips with Chas on the Lady Elsie during our stay at Lauklines - he was so knowledgeable and passionate about the area and making sure we had the best experience possible. My fishing companion landed a halibut weighing 143lbs and we both had more cod than we could count. Chas became a friend and we hope to return because of him.

Skipper Marcus of arctic adventures is a excellent skipper , he is always trying to put you on the big fish and with changeling Arctic conditions works the boat and you to get on the fish .
All the tackle is in great condition with sharp hooks . You have confidence if you get hold of that BIGG'EN you will get it in ;)
I will be back GREAT
Do it

We had booked one night with Arctic Fishing Adventures. We gathered at the appointed place and watched as several other tour groups also gathered and soon we were off in search of the lights. Marcus was our guide and worked hard to find clear skies and the best views. He seemed to be expert at numerous camera operations as he helped everyone in the group adjust their cameras to get the best shots (I have over 100 beautiful shots). Later in the evening he broke out a home-made fish stew which my wife loved so much she wanted to get the recipe. We were exhausted long before the lights were finished. We immediately re-booked another trip for the next night.

The second night was much cloudier and it proved to be quite the challenge to find the lights. But determination prevailed. We watched as Marcus coordinated with other tour groups to find the best places and the best weather. Although it was considerably colder, we still enjoyed some lights. Enjoyed the stew and this time we got the recipe!!

We were there on 19.3.2014 - I'm sorry I have only just got around to reviewing the trip. It was a wonderful experience, well worth the money, despite the low level of aurora activity on the night that we went.

I won't repeat what has already been said many times about how well run this trip is, and how great Marcus is as a Northern Lights hunter. I only want to add that my husband thought that his camera was too basic to get any pictures of the lights, but Marcus fiddled with it and managed to find a setting that enabled us to take our own photographs of a weak display which looks quite magical on the resulting photographs!

One tip - do not try to walk around on a frozen beach with your camera locked onto a tripod - husband slipped, bashed the camera on a rock, and bent the lens - permanently. Good thing we had already taken plenty of pics.

Having tried and failed to see the lights last year from a single location in Sweden, this time I chose a trip which actively searched for the clear skies needed, basically driving for some hours if necessary. It was cloudy in Tromso and beyond but Marcus took us to clear skies and found some rather weak lights and we were pleased. However, even though we had been out for some hours, Marcus and his driver kept searching and we were rewarded with a really amazing strong display. Marcus was very attentive, with excellent English, and provided a very good trip for our small group (4 of us plus another 4). We appreciated the tasty hot dinner around a campfire, and the hand/feet warmers although we didn't need the outer clothing also provided. He took some great photos of the lights during the evening including some of us with the lights behind us. He explained what the chances were of the lights appearing and showed us his instruments used to assess the weather and level of activity if we wanted to see them. Not a cheap trip ... but if that's why you go to the Arctic, you have a as good a chance as possible of seeing them with Marcus. Would definitely go with him again.
