I stayed at Bed and Books in the Fisherman's Home in March 2013. It really was a home from home although I did get a bit lost and went to Writers Home first (my fault) so do make sure you check before you tell the taxi where to drop you off!
Both homes are 'no outdoor shoe' zones (great idea because of all the snow/mud in the winter months) - so bring slippers or warm socks.
Both homes are within easy walking distance of local shops and the town centre. It was really clean and well looked after. The kitchen was clean and well stocked with implements and everyone tidied up after themselves. I found the other people staying there really friendly too.
The one downside - broken blinds in the bedrooms. But I think there is a re-fit underway so this will solve the problem.
I definitely recommend Bed and Books and will stay there again if I go back to Tromso.
