Just returned from 5 nights in Tromso. Took the airport bus 70krone single, 100krone return.
Saw the lights straight away. Pressure off. The hotel is in a perfect location on the harbour. Great evening buffet, which over the time we were there helped greatly with the budget. Very welcome and very good quality. Yes, the waffles are fun and fill a gap in the afternoon. Rooms fine and we just had the ones at the back. I'm sure the harbour facing ones would be lovely. House party feel to the place, which encourages you to chat to other guests and share tips and directions for all the sights. Very friendly atmosphere. The staff were only too happy to help. Thoroughly recommend.

We stayed here two nights as part of an Inntravel package and was our last destination after two fantastic stays in the wilderness in Sollia and Kongsfiord. It was great end to our stay in Norway, really comfortable beds and linen. Great location in town on the waterfront. Excellent buffet breakfast and welcome afternoon waffles.

Room Tip: we had a room overlooking the harbour which was a great room with a view, recommend the extra to get this room

My wife and I spent 7 days in this hotel in February. The location is excellent. Everything downtown can be reached on foot. If you have a car you can park it in the tunnel parking a few minutes by foot from the hotel (the tourist office sells one-, two-, and three-day tickets at 130 NOK per day allowing you to move in and out as many times as you like). We did not book one of the superior rooms, therefore it was not facing the harbor. But we got one of the larger rooms of about 23m2 (including a bathroom of about 4m2). It was clean, and equipped with two excellent beds, a desk, a minibar, and two comfortable armchairs. We liked the reading lamps above the beds. The hotel was fully booked, but there was never any noise from other guests. A minor drawback is the lack of storage space (no drawers for underwear and shirts, just a few hangers near the door). You can choose whether you want your room done or not. If you choose No, they promise to donate 25 NOK to a charity organisation, a good idea. After 4 days we expected our towels to be changed, in vain, however. Breakfast was excellent, offering a variety of breads, crisp breads, cereals, yoghurt (unfortunately strawberry only), cheese, jam, cold cut meats, marinated fish, coffee, various flavors of tea. Complimentary tea and coffee are available 24 hours a day. From 3 to 6 pm you can cook your own waffles and top them with strawberry jam and/or whipped cream. The light dinner included in the rate is somewhat mixed: we liked the salads and the entrees (similar to breakfast), the soup was ok too, but the main course was mostly "on the cheap side" (sausages, meat cakes, fish cakes, etc, with some vegetables, always swimming in a lot of nondescript sauce. Nice exceptions: salmon, chili con carne). So was the dessert (chocolate or vanilla pudding, jelly). But it is very convenient not having to leave the hotel in search of a restaurant for dinner. At peak times the breakfast/dinner room is rather packed, and the personnel sometimes took a long time to notice when some foods ran out. But the personnel were always very helpful and friendly. We would certainly choose this hotel again.

I, my husband and two friends have just returned from a 4 day break at this hotel. The hotel is right on the water front with an amazing view. We caught the airport shuttle bus right outside the airport (tickets can be bought from a machine in the arrivals lounge or from the driver) and it dropped us very close to the hotel, just a two minute walk infact. We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by a very friendly chap at reception. Check in was quick and easy and we were soon down in the restaurant eating the complimentary waffles that you make yourself - great fun! They describe the complimentary evening meal as a 'light buffet' however we found this to be most filling. There was soup available, with plenty of freshly cut bread, a main course which changes every evening, we had chilli, meat balls, fishcakes and salmon and a desert and they always had fresh salad, cheese and cold meats on offer. No need to seek out the expensive restaurants after such a satisfying feast each evening. Our room was at the front of the hotel, definatley worth paying the extra money,100 nok per room per night, however although the rooms were very clean and comfortable they were lacking in storage space - just a few hangers in an alcove near the bathroom, no drawers to store underwear etc.but this was just a minor complaint. We ventured out on our first night looking for a pub to have a drink before dinner. We stumbled upon a pub just round the corner from the hotel and promptly ordered two beers and two glasses of wine but the wine proved to be a problem that we encountered in every bar we entered there after - it seems that wine is not that popular in Tromso! We were offered only red wine in most places and of course was extremely expensive. We also found that you cannot purchase wine from the local supermarkets either, only from government run outlets however we didn't manage to find one of these! I suggest if you want to enjoy a good glass of wine then bring your own with you!!! We did most of the usual tourist attractions such as the Polar museum etc and of course you can't come all this way and not do a northern lights tour. We used Tromsø Friluftsenter and were looked after superbly. We were so lucky to have witnessed the most spectacular display of lights that had been seen for a while, truly magical. Would highly recommend not just this hotel but Tromso in its entirety and I for one cannot wait to go back.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front over looking the harbour for superb views

We stayed at this hotel on two seperate days surrounding a Northern Lights trip and it was great! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and certainly big enough for an overnight stay. We had harbour view rooms each night and it was terrific watching the activity below on the water.

The breakfasts were very good - buffet style - with plenty of choice. If anything ran out, you just had to ask and it would be refilled.

As an added bonus, the hotel provides afternoon tea-time waffles with toppings and coffee available throughout the day.

There is also a light evening buffet with a different tasty main course each evening, which is very good value.

We loved the concept of this hotel and we would certainly stay there again if in Tromso and heartily recommend it to others.

Room Tip: the harbour view rooms are great!
