We chose the Self-Drive Dog Sledding and it was a wonderful experience. Departure on time from the meeting point in Tromso and comfortable journey of about 30 minutes to reach the Tromso Villmarkssenter site.
Upon arrival we were given the arctic suits and then we met the dogs and played with the puppies. Huskies are gorgeous and can't wait to run. The staff is very polite, friendly and professional and gives all the instructions to drive the sled correctly and safely. The ride lasts just over an hour, you'll have a lot of fun and the landscape is stunning. It is also possible to exchange the driver with the passenger. At the end, hot drinks, reindeer soup and slices of cake are served in a warm and comfortable hut. It is also possible to buy some souvenirs to take home. We highly recommend Tromso Villmarkssenter; the experience is worth the expense and they are very kind and really good.

This was a truly unique experience during our visit to Tromso this week.
The Villmarkssenter is a very eco-friendly place and they truly love their dogs.
We were looked after by Bas, who was friendly and caring. The sledge ride was a joyous experience and spending time with the dogs beforehand and afterwards, was wonderful. A highly recommendable time!

This was an awesome experience! The huskies love to run! The dogs are so friendly and love a good tummy tickle! The set up is brilliant! So many dogs to cuddle and the puppies too! One of the best experiences, so don't miss out on this!

I was lucky enough to do a morning dog sledding expedience with Tromso Wilderness Centre. The staff were great, everything ran smoothly but most importantly the husky dogs were just adorable. We were able to meet and cuddle the huskies and even get to spend some time with the puppy huskies! A must do when your in Tromso during the winter months.

Everything about this experience was just absolutely perfect. The dogs are friendly and extremely well taken care of, and you can tell they are happy to be there. The guides were really helpful and explained the activity thoroughly. Moreover, the guides love the dogs and the dogs love them back; they get really clingy with them, which is nice to see especially if you initially had reservations about booking this activity because of any potential misgivings about the dogs’ treatment. You are provided with a set of winter clothing and goggles which were a blessing as it was a snowy and freezing cold winter day.

I rode a solo sleigh and although physically demanding (most people take turns about halfway through the ride), it was overall manageable. After the ride we were taken to a nice and warm hut in order to have lunch. The reindeer stew (which I had seconds of) and hot chocolate were delicious! We were picked up at 10:15 am from the Radisson Blu hotel and were dropped off at about 2:30pm, so it’s safe to allocate about four and a half hours for this activity.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tromsø. It was definitely one of the highlights of my trip.
