Extremely friendly and courteous service. We enjoyed excellent plum cake and coffee before walking along the water edge to Stornes. We had used enough energy on a very hot day to return for dinner. Excellent smoked reindeer with lingonberries, potatoes and other small delights followed by traditional cod with potatoes, cauliflower, cream sauce and small pieces of roasted pork. It was all delicious, well cooked and well presented and we will go back for more!

Great service, profound understanding of preserving Northern Norwegian tradition and culture, both for accommodation and food

Unfortunately cannot comment on food even though the menu sounded very nice... Problem was that they close the kitchen at 9pm... So plan accordingly!

Rökenes Gård consisst of several old buildings. The farm dates more than 500 years back, always functioning as a house fit for travellers and kings. In fact it is the place where the King of Norway prefer to stay when visiting the Harstad region. Mikhail Gorbachev with wife Raisa also chose this place. 2 weeks ago my wife and I celebrated an anniversary here: We had invited 52 guests. Even then it was no problem for the restaurant to serve us an excellent dinner accompanied with a selection of good wines. The mister of the household introduced us to the old history of Rökenes. Also it is nice just to take a walk in the surroundings of the farm. Living in this region of Northern Norway I am sure we will visit this manor again.

We have just returned from a short trip to Harstad to celebrate the New Year and we had the honour of dining at Rokenes with Kristian and his family on New Years Eve. The meal was outstanding - I'm sure the chef is a wizard as I've never tasted meat so tender and flavoursome, followed by the chocolate and raspberry dessert - YUMMY! The evening went so quickly but we have wonderful memories of the laughter, the wine, the stories (especially the Otter story Lil!) and left with a feeling of utter contentment. If we are lucky enough to have another chance to visit we will be at Rokenes in a heartbeat.
